Writing Prompt:
Short - "Run away with me."
_

It had been a week since Derek had lost his alpha status after healing his sister. It had been weird to suddenly not have to take care of a pack anymore. It was somewhat of a relief, but not much. It was a load off, sure. But he'd be lying he said he didn't miss being the one that people came to for help.

He looked up when he heard someone enter the room, his eyes meeting the ones of Y/N McCall, Scott's younger sister.

Y/N offered him a soft smile, leaning against the door frame of the loft. "Well, aren't you the life of the party." she teased gently, walking further into the room.

Derek rolled his eyes fondly, shaking his head and leaning against the back of the sofa as he propped his feet on the coffee table. "I didn't really feel like going out with everyone else."

Y/N flopped down beside him, bringing her knees to her chest. "I don't blame you." she murmured, meeting his green eyes. "I'm not bothering you, am I?"

Derek offered a small smile, something that was rare, but beautiful. "No, not at all. I think you're the only one out of all of them that I actually don't hate being around."

Y/N laughed softly. "I'm going to take that as a compliment." she joked, resting her head on her knees. "You okay? You seem a little off."

Derek sighed, dragging a hand over his stubble covered jaw and shrugging. "I guess. I just have a lot on my mind, that's all." he shrugged.

Y/N nodded in understanding. "I get that." she murmured, her voice slightly muffled by the fabric of her jeans. "Believe me, I do."

Derek looked over at the girl, raising his eyebrows. "You too, huh?"

The younger McCall sibling snorted, raising her eyebrows. "You have no idea." she murmured, shaking her head. "I don't know. I guess I'm just kind of sick of everything. I'm ready for it to be over but I know it's not going to be. At least not anytime soon."

Derek nodded, letting his eyes float back to his shoes. "I know." he murmured. And he did. He was tired of all the madness too. He knew things would never be what other people call "normal" for them, but he wanted it to be pretty damn close.

But maybe it could be.

Derek looked over at his friend, his green eyes lighter than usual. "We should go somewhere."

Y/N raised her eyebrows at the older male. "What?"

"Yeah, we should go somewhere. Just you and me. I think we deserve to get away somewhere, don't you?" The former alpha said, raising his own eyebrows.

The girl felt the corners of her mouth tugging up into a smile. "We could get in trouble." she pointed out, even though they both knew she didn't really care.

"It's not like we're leaving forever. A few days, tops." Derek said with a shrug as he turned his whole body to face the girl. "Hey," he murmured, taking her hands into his own and squeezing them gently. "Run away with me. Just for a little while. Please."

Y/N smiled, squeezing the older male's hands gently. "Okay."
