"No, no, no, not here." Katherine muttered as her car began to slow to a stop, her eyes going wide. "Crap, crap, no! Come on, don't do this to me!" She groaned, beating her fist against the steering wheel. The tires seemed to laugh at her struggling as they squealed against the pavement, slowly coming to a halt. She sighed, resting her head against the steering wheel. "Son of a bitch."

She looked up when she heard a car pull up next to her, her brow furrowing when she saw someone rolling down their window and looking at her through dark sunglasses. She rolled down her own window and listened as the male began to speak.

"Car trouble?" He asked, lowering his sunglasses onto the bridge of his nose to reveal his green eyes.

"Unfortunately." Katherine said suspiciously, raising her eyebrows.

"You're Lydia's friend, right? The new girl?"

"Who's asking?"

The male smiled. "I'm Derek Hale. I'm a friend."

"Ah. I'm Katherine. I'm new. But I guess you already knew that."

"Kind of. Do you need a ride?"

Katherine arched an eyebrow. "Isn't this the part in the movie where the stupid girl gets into the car with the handsome stranger and then gets murdered?"

"Well, you don't strike me as stupid, and last time I checked, murder was illegal." Derek said, raising his eyebrows.

Katherine grinned. "Good answer." She quickly gathered her stuff out of the floorboard and exited the car before climbing into the passenger seat of Derek's black Camaro. "Thanks for this."

"Sure, no problem. I know a good mechanic if you need one?"

"I think a tow truck is the priority at the moment." Katherine sighed as she pulled out her cellphone from her pocket. "Any chance you know a good company? Or a cheap company?"

Derek chuckled, shrugging. "Well, I have a friend who owes me a favor, so I'm thinking I can set you up."

Katherine breathed a soft sigh of relief. "Thanks."

"No problem." Derek said, looking over at the girl in the passenger seat. "You seem like you've had a long day."

Katherine snorted, looking at the male beside her. "What gave it away?"

Derek smiled, tipping his head to the side. "How about you let me buy you dinner? As a stress reliever."

"I met you like ten minutes ago, and you want to buy me dinner?"

"Hey, I skipped the flirting, didn't I?"

Katherine smiled, shaking her head and looking up into his green eyes. "Well, I do like someone who is straight forward. I think I'd like that."

Derek smiled. "Great."
