"Jenna, will you please just breathe?!" Derek shouted as his girlfriend -or, who he hoped was still his girlfriend- threw a pillow in his direction. "Look, I couldn't just let you die!"
"Why the hell not, Derek?!" Jenna snapped, raising her eyebrows so fast it almost looked painful. "You freaking turned me Derek!"
Jenna had been involved in car accident not too far back, and it was getting to the point where it was almost certain that she wouldn't make it, unless some kind of miracle occurred.
Derek decided to be that miracle.
Jenna was pretty much the only thing that made him want to wake up in the morning. (A/N- Me Before You anyone? 😏) If he lost her? He wouldn't be able to handle it.
"Is it really that bad, Jenna? Hearing better? Seeing better? Being faster? Stronger?" He paused, taking her gently by the shoulders. "Having power?"
Jenna shook her head with tears in her eyes, an involuntary sob escaping her lips. "It's not that, Derek. My little sister saw me shift. She saw me shift and now she's terrified of me." She said, looking into his green eyes with her sad ones. "I-I tried to explain it to her, but.." She took a shaky breath, wiping a hand over her face and shaking her head.
Derek's face softened and he pulled his girlfriend close, holding her tightly against his chest. "Oh, baby.." He sighed, tangling his fingers into her hair gently. Jenna pressed her face into his shirt and hiccupped softly, gripping onto him like her life depended on it. "Hey," He pulled away gently, cupping her tear stained face in his large hands and tenderly wiping a tear out from under her eye. "Don't worry about it. I'm gonna help you. Okay? I promise."
Jenna could only nod, taking a shuddering breath and grasping his wrist tightly. "Okay. Thank you. For everything."
Derek smiled, pressing a kiss to her forehead. "No need. I love you."
"I love you too."
