"Mark, w-what if they don't like me? What if they get pissed that we're dating? What if they tell us to leave?" Jack said nervously.

Mark sighed and ran a hand through his hair, "I don't know... but I need to tell them. I can't keep this hidden from them any longer. I love you and I want them to know. I want everyone to know. And besides, we're both adults and if they want us to leave, we will, and we'll go back home."

"I love you, too, Mark," Jack said, "Okay, okay, we can do this. We'll be okay."

Mark leaned in and the two shared a short, simple kiss.

They got out of the car and closed the doors behind them. They walked to Mark's mother's home where Mark's mother and brother, along with a few other family members, were there for Thanksgiving dinner.

Since Jack was from Ireland, he'd never really celebrated Thanksgiving. Mark and Jack started dating earlier that year, Jack ending up moving to LA with Mark.

Mark had invited Jack to his mother's home to celebrate the holiday, where the two would tell Mark's family that they were in a relationship.

Mark knocked on the door and quickly embraced Jack to reassure him that everything was alright.

They pulled away a few seconds before the door was opened by Mark's mother.

She knew Jack was coming over as Mark had told her.

"Mark! Jack! So nice to see you!" She said, welcoming them into her home.

Mark smiled, "Hey, mom. How's it going?"

"Good, good," She smiled, "How are you, Jack?"

"I'm fantastic," Jack said, "It's so nice to meet you."

They all shared small talk and hung out with Mark's nieces and nephews - and other family of course - Jack genuinely having a good time, though the sinking nervousness continued in the back of his heart.

Soon enough, it was time to eat. Everyone got their food, {turkey HayleyJohnson1234 (little inside joke)}, and sat down.

Jack looked over at Mark, nerves taking over him. Mark responded to his nervous gaze with a knowing look.

After a few minutes of eating and little conversation, Mark cleared his throat.

He made sure that he only said this between Jack, himself, his mother and his brother.

"I have an announcement to make," Mark began warily.

"Yes, Mark?" His mother answered.

"I-I... uh... this food is really good," He said, attempting to avoid the topic at hand.

"Thank you, Mark, but I can tell something's bothering you. What is it?"

Jack was beyond nervous at this point. As was Mark.

Mark sighed before saying, "Jack and I... w-we're in a relationship..."

Jack let out a breath of air he didn't know he was holding in when he heard Mark's mother gasp, loudly dropping her silverware onto her plate and table.

Thomas, however, stayed silent, as if he almost knew of Mark and Jack's relationship.

Mark's mother then stood, pushing in her chair and walking away quickly for a little time to herself, just to let the information set in before she said anything she might regret.

Mark sighed and took off his glasses. He rubbed his eyes, then returned his glasses to their original place.

Thomas stood, too, walking over to Mark and hugging him. After he pulled away from that hug, he gave Jack a side hug and a small pat on the back, "Thank you for making my brother happy," He said.

Jack just nodded with a small smile. He saw Mark out of his peripheral vision who also smiled.

Thomas returned to his seat and the three continued on with normal conversation and their meals for a few minutes.

Soon enough, Mark's mother returned. She sat down in her original spot, and began speaking.

"Mark, I only want you to be happy. I hope Jack makes you happy, because that's all I want for you to be. It might take a bit for me to adjust to your relationship and sexuality, but I will try my hardest to be nothing but supportive to you and your boyfriend."

Mark stood, walked to his mother and hugged her. She hugged back and a few tears fell from each of their eyes.

"Thank you," Mark said.

Jack soon hugged Mark's mother after Mark's hug with her, "Please be good to him." She said.

"I will," Jack responded.

The rest of the meal was good, everything going well.

Eventually, it was time for Jack and Mark to leave, and they were all happy.

"I told you everything would be okay," Mark said with a smile once they were in the car again.

Jack sighed, but smiled as well, "I'm happy everything turned out for the better."
