Avery's POV
Gym was awful. Mr. Otter made my class run for twenties minutes of the class. And I can't stand running. I barely sweat too, so I always feel lucky after gym. Everyone's faces are pitch red and their sweating and I'm totally fine. Now, I'm off to English with Chantel.
"So, first day. See any hot boys?" She smiled at me. I grinned, thinking of Jay.
"AVERY!" Chantel snapped me out of my thoughts.
"What?" I blink rapidly.
"What are you thinking about?" She glared.
"Nothing.." I lied
"No way." She knows. "You met someone!!"
Chantel, no matter how hard I try, knows when I've talked to a boy, when a boy has looked at me, when I've seen a boy. She just knows.
I laugh quietly. "Yes, I did indeed."
"Who! Oh my god tell me!" She slaps my shoulder with her free hand. The other holding her binder and text book.
"He's new, so no one you would know. We met this morning, when I ran into him whilst texting you. His name is Jay." I blush.
Chantel laughs almost uncontrollably.
"Stop laughing!" I snap.
"I'm sorry," Calming herself. "But remember that time when you ran into a pole and you were texting me, and that other time you ran into a teacher. Also while texting me?"
"Yeah, you never let me forget it."
"STOP TEXTING ME WHILE WALKING AROUND!" She raises her voice.
I'm the one that's laughing uncontrollably now.
"Okay okay. I just have bad luck with it."
We enter in our class room. And there he is.
Jay.
In the back corner. A blank expression on his face. For some reason my heart starts to race.
His eyes try to meet mine, proabably noticing I was staring, but I tilt my head down before his eyes could reach.
I walked to an empty desk beside Chantel. Jay, just a row over.
"Good morning grade elevens!" An unfamiliar voice calls. "My name is Mrs. Yorksure." My teacher smiled wide.
She talked about what we would be learning this year, classroom rules, what to expect, and everyone's favourite, mid-terms and final exams. I try to listen, but I can feel someones eyes on me. Watching me.
Slowly, I turn my head to the right, to see Jay staring right at me. I almost jump, his eyes... seem to be glowing. I'm somewhat attracted and creeped out by his luminous eyes. Jay smirks then turns to face the front. My head does not move however. My eyes locked on the side of his head. Those beautiful curls and the structure of his face is unbelievable.
*RIIIIING*
The bell pulled me away from staring at Jay's perfect face. I had to stop at my locker to pick up my Science and Math textbook. Chantel already had hers so she decided to travel to class before me. I grabbed what I needed, slammed my locker and almost ran into Jay. He was hiding behind my locker door.
"God, you gave me a heart attack." I say sternly. He laughs.
"Math and Science." He examined the books in my arms. "What one do you have first?"
"Math." I say, making eye contact with him.
"Me too, come on. Don't want to be late on our first day do we?" He walked beside me. The word 'our' causes my heart to skip a beat.
