Avery's POV
I can't tell if my eyes are open or closed, because all I see is black. I assume their closed, and I'm sleeping. Then I hear noises, it's sharp painful sounds of torture. Screaming, knives sliding against other knives. The sound of a bullet entering someone's forehead, daggers stabbing enemies. I can only see silhouettes performing these tasks. Are my eyes open or closed? Their open, but even when I shut them, it's like I never do. Because everything I see when their open is the same when I close them. There's still no light, I'm sitting on what feels like concrete. Cold, and hard. I can't even see my own hands in front of my face.
Avery,, Avery,, Avery,,
I whip my head around in all sorts of directions, to see who is calling my name. But I see nothing.
"W-who's there?" I ask dumbly.
I straighten my head out; there's a light. A bright shining white light. It feels like it almost blinds me, but I stand up anyways.
"Avery,, Avery, Avery,," the voice calls my name out.
It gets louder with every wobbly step I take, like a chant you'd hear at a football game. But this sort of chant, wasn't sounding happy and supportive. My eyes adjust as I come closer to the large shiny light and reach my arm out to enter into it. Any place is better than the dark abyss I'm currently in. My hand is centimetres away when a beautiful voice stops me.
"AVERY, WHERE ARE YOU" it's Jay. Why has he come for me?
No, keep going, into the light Avery, Avery Avery,,
The voice gets louder in my head, it's screaming, so Jay's voice is muffled.
I turn around from the light and slam my hands to my ears, trying to block out the horrible voices.
"AVERY ANSWER ME PLEASE!" His voice is panicked and I can hear him cough roughly. "AVERY!!!" He's wheezing.
There's two noises going on in my head, Jay's screams and the horrible chants of my name. I turn back to the light. I have no where else to go except the light.
"Avery, stop." A calm voice says be hind me. And all is silent.
I obey; and my mother stand before me. "Wake up Avery. Your human life isn't over yet." She says to me.
"What do you mean, 'wake up'?" I asked.
"Your surrounded by flames, and the spirits of light want you to jump into that tunnel, away from humanity." Her face was pale.
"I don't understand..."
"Avery, they'll trap you in there forever. You'll never be able to leave. It's meant to keep you safe, away from the Darks." My mothers eyes intensify.
No, go. She's tricking you. The voices whispered. She's with the Dark Ones.
"How do you know all this, your my mom are you not? My mom never had anything to do with being a Keeper Of Light." I raise my voice and take a few steps back.
"I was the past Keeper Of Light, I lost my true love, and you gained yours. You took the power from me. I never wanted to tell you nor Lexi, because not in a million years would I ever think that you would carry on as being The Keeper of Light."
The voices grew louder, and there was so many of them. It was difficult to understand what they were saying.
"But where else will I go!" I yelled over my mind.
"Run, and imagine yourself awakening."
"Where?"
"Away from the light Avery. GO!"
