"This isn't going to be easy to-"
"When is it ever easy for me to understand or accept things in the world I live in, Iaoel?" I interrupted harshly, leaving Ioael speechless as Cassiel continued to look around for something in the room. "Just explain to me what's going on... And tell me what the hell you are looking for."
"Don't say or do anything yet," Cassiel murmured as he dug his fist under the mattress of the bed Zach was sleeping on. I looked at him like he was crazy when he smiled with victory and pulled out a wooden eye. "I found it," he sang triumphantly, making me shake my head slowly as I stared at the strange, carved wood.
"Do I even want to know what that is?" I asked Cassiel as he took a knife from his pocket and cut out the pupil. He threw the pupil out the window before crushing the rest of the wood in his hands.
"It's kind of like a high-tech spy camera," Belial explained, as he leaned against the wall of the room. "Except creepier and demonic."
I looked at the crushed piece of wood skeptically before sighing and turning my focus back to the topic at hand.
This is the life I live.
"The truth is, Michelle," Cassiel said with a grim smile. "We're just as confused as you are."
"How the hell is that possible, yo-"
"The truth is," Iaoel roared angrily, "We thought that you were the Antichrist, but it turns out that you aren't and Zachary is, or you just managed to transfer it onto him like a pestilent, contagious disease."
"Wait-"
"No, Michelle, I recommend you let me finish," he fumed, pursing his lips. "Not only are you a pain to manage, but you also are still a hormonal teenager. Those two together do not go well with my patience, child."
"Iaoel, stop," Ariel deadpanned with cautious eyes as he noticed my twitching eyes.
"No, no," I said slowly while I lowered myself onto the bed by me. "Continue, please. I'd love to hear your whining."
"What he's trying to say is," Ariel added, "everything that we thought we knew turned out to be wrong. So now we don't really know what to do."
"Well that's fucking perfect," I said, laughing humorlessly. "We don't know what's going on, what to do, or who we're up against."
"One thing still does stand though," Belial stated, pointing towards me as he looked around at all of us. "This bitch is literally indestructible."
"And can literally kill anything," Samael muttered, rubbing the back of his neck.
"Which is cool as fuck, if you ask me," Rahab said as he tipped his invisible hat at me, making chuckle.
Michelle, listen to me, a voice that sounded a lot like mine echoed in my head.
"Wha-" I started to say, but immediately shut my mouth. I felt as if I shouldn't talk. My lips were numb and dry and felt as if they were being compressed together.
Don't talk, just listen, the voice said calmly as the world around me froze, making me hold in my breath. Don't tell them what I tell you. Understand that you are very special and have a tremendous role in the future of not only earth but every single being. Both living and dead.
'Ok,' I said to it as struggled to swallow the spit in my mouth.
Michelle, when I had to decide what the weapon would be that could do only what some thought impossible... I realized that making another Mark of Cain would not be a wise idea.
Oh... my... shit.
Am I talking to God right now?
Yes. Yes, you are. Now listen, God said seriously, making me hold on a scream. I realize you might not have the time or patience to stay and chat for an hour, so I'm going to cut to the chase.
You are the weapon, Michelle. You were not made to be the Antichrist. You were made to kill the Antichrist... along with any other being - Angel, demon, or human - that gets in the way.
I stood there. Frozen.
My mouth was dry, my lips were numb, and my eyes were welling up with confusion and anger. My fists clenched slowly and my stomach twisted as it expelled all joy that I had left in my body.
I would have to kill my brother.
'Why are you doing this to me? Why are you like this? Why are you making me kill my brother? Why do I have to be the one that ends the life of the only person in this world that I truly care about?' I asked him angrily, making a silent hum fill my mind. 'Hello?' I hollered in my head after a while of waiting impatiently for an answer.
There's something about you, Michelle. There was a spark I saw in your soul before you were brought into this world. A spark that not a lot of human could say they had.
It's called Grace, Michelle, God said slowly, giving me time to process every word he said. No human before you had ever been born with Grace. It was especially surprising to all beings, due to the fact that you were the offspring of a human and Lucifer. He had long ago lost his Grace. And, if some stayed behind, I can only assume that you now have what was left in yourself.
This is unreal.
Listen to me, Michelle, God said quickly as he released his hold on time. Everyone around me unfroze and proceeded to continue their conversation. I, however, remained frozen. The fear that was gripping onto me forced me to stay in place. Lucifer might have been caged before, but that doesn't mean he doesn't know about how things are run on Earth, especially now that he has Zachary on his side. You are going to need to really pay attention to everything on social media and on television. I guarantee that you will be seeing a lot of your brother over the next couple months.
