Even though my brother died due to a freak bull accident I still go into the ring with those big mean beasts. State finals. Big name scouts. Getting recognized with the pros. Doing what you love with people you looked up to.

I put my gear on and pulled the school jersey over my protective vest. It said regional winner. Four others said that from my region. It was also a certain color from each region.

I stood out in the middle of four guys, one from each region. Two didn't care I was there, the rest cussed at me and told me the same old story I've been hearing.

When the bull bucked out of the chute I stood ready. Once the rider was off I was the first to distract it. He came at me. I grabbed his horns and twisted his head. He was just like BJ.

Finally he gave up and left me alone, but went for one of the guys not exactly paying attention. I jumped over and got the bull mad. The two that didn't care I was a girl helped.

Only three got the bull out of the ring without help of the other two. They were already eliminated. Two different came in and waited just like me.

Eight seconds and the buzzer. The guy got off and the bull went easily. Some bulls will go without a fight and others will. I walked behind the bull to a certain point.

The next the guy was bucked right into the chute. The bull came after one of the guys. Me and another guy got a hold of the bull. "You better get out before you get hurt babe." He told me.

"Oh but at least I don't have to worry about losing my manhood." I smarted back. The smirk on his face disappeared. The bull stopped and threw us both. It was tired of the fight.

One more rider then the bull fighters were done. The guy got into the chute. He got up on his rope. I watched as he nodded. The gate opened and the bull came out fighting mad.

It was the same bull that almost killed Zane last year. I was furious. The rider lost balance and I immediately jumped in. He was loose in less than a second. The bull shoved me with his side. I kept my balance and was able to get away from the bull.

It went out of the ring as I held my elbow. I think it got caught between the bull's leg and belly. Immediately I left the ring quicker than I should of. I got to the medics for them to check it out.

They said that it could have been broke. So went to the ER and got an X-Ray of it. It was more or less sprained. I went to the motel room because I had my clothes already in my truck.

I got a shower, put a wrap on my elbow and iced it for the night. Hopefully it will be better tomorrow.

I got up late and got dressed and iced my elbow and took some ibuprofen for the pain

I got up late and got dressed and iced my elbow and took some ibuprofen for the pain. Then went to eat breakfast. I sat down in a booth at IHOP and got what I wanted.

Someone sat down in front of me as I looked out the window. The person cleared his throat. I turned to meet the gaze of the one who told me to get out of the ring last night.

"That was pretty brave of you last night." He told me. I looked away. "I'm sorry for that comment last night. I don't know what made me say it. I guess it was just that I've never competed against a girl before."

"It's not competition. It's all about team work." I told him. "And the rest of us should have jumped in to help keep each other safe." He said pointing at my elbow.

The waitress set my plate down and I used my left had to eat. I thought I remembered Nash saying something like that. Protect those that need it and help those that are trying to protect.

I continued to eat until there was nothing left on it. I was about to pay when the guy paid for my meal. "That's me paying you back after what I did last night." He told me. "And not many would have made that comeback last night."

I left the restaurant and got into my truck. Kiss up. I went to the arena to watch the roping practice. I sat in the stands watching as they roped. When it was noon I got up and went out to my truck.

I got my gear and changed into it. Then ate something before it was time. Three were eliminated last night. "PBR and PRCA will be here this afternoon and night. Don't be pressured by the scouts because you won't know who they are until the end of the night." The guy in charge of the events said. "Also ERA will be here."

We were dismissed and I iced my elbow before the go round. After bull riding I iced my elbow again and numbed it. It wasn't exactly sore, it was almost swelled up though.

I sat down in a chair and held the ice around my elbow. Five were eliminated this round. I was still in it. The guy that confronted me this morning was still in. I didn't have the last round tonight so I could change out of my gear but they told us not to.

Then five came in drunk off their butts. They were eliminated before even entering the arena. Looks like I'm working. "Only three of you fighters up at the bull at a time. The other two will have to sit out. If your not one of the three up by the bull, at least three times, your out. You've got to be quick."
