(Michael's POV)
I stepped outside of my house and looked up at the sky, wondering what I wanted to do that day. I felt like going on an adventure. And I couldn't think of anyone besides Gavin that I would want to go on it with. As I turned my head and looked at his house, I thought about his sleeping body that was probably still on his bed. Maybe it was too dangerous to take Gavin anywhere with me. I felt like every time he lost a life it hurt me more than it hurt him. Maybe I cared about him more than he cared about himself.
I heard a door open and looked around the field, noticing it was from Ray's house. I began to wave before I realized it was wasn't him, but Geoff.
"Hey Michael!" He called out as he started walking towards me. "Have you seen Ray?"
"No, is he not in his house?"
"Nope. I was just going to give him these emeralds that I didn't give him yesterday," He said, pointing to the army style pouch he wore on his halo skin. As he did the thought came in to my mind about how easy it would be to take them. Geoff wasn't carrying a sword, and I kept one in a chest just a few feet away... I was crazy. Sure, sometimes it seemed a bit unfair Ray was paid so much but that was just life. I swore I could hear a part of my brain say "Gavin needs that so much more."
"I bet he's out picking roses for that flower garden he was talking about the other day."
"Ha! Ya, probably. Anyway, will you wake up Gavin for me and tell him to meet up at my house in about 30 minutes? Need to talk to him about business crap."
"Ya, sure," I said as I nodded my head.
"Cool! See ya round."
I waved goodbye and then walked to Gavin's house, slowly opening the door. At first all the art on the walls is what caught my attention but Gavin sleeping on the bed in a sprawled out position is what captured my eye.
"UMMMF," He whined, already knowing what I had come for.
"Wakey wakey! I've got good news!" I said as I kneeled down by the side of his bed. "Geoff says he wants to talk about business stuff! That means you're going to be getting paid to build the next Let's Play!"
"I don't want to," He whined in his adorable British accent, though adorable wasn't a word I would normally wanted to say out loud.
"Why not?"
"I don't get paid enough. It's so much bloody work and then sometimes the food I get is just barely enough to keep my energy up through all of it."
I glared at the ground as I thought about his words. I didn't need to say anything, because he already knew what the right thing to do was. To prove it he sat up in his bed and leaned on his legs with his elbows. He didn't want to face the world but he could do it without my help.
"Are we going on an adventure today?" He asked. We had been going every Saturday for the past 3 weeks, so it wasn't that long, but it still felt like a tradition.
"We both know that's probably not a good idea."
"But I can take care of myself! And we can always do something that doesn't involve monsters."
I sighed. "Okay I'll make a deal. If you go talk to Geoff about the Let's Play in 30 minutes then we can go on a small adventure in the forest."
"Ok thanks Mi-cool!" He yelled as he put his arms around me. He held them there for a couple seconds too long.
"You get dressed, and I'll go get the swords and armor ready," I said as I pulled away and walked towards the door. "See you soon!"
"Okay!"
