(Gavin's POV)
When I opened my eyes my brain had to quickly process it was suddenly in reality. As I shot up out of what I had been cozily resting in, my head felt dizzy and the world started to spin. I realized I was sitting in a bed, which meant a new spawn.
There was a stone roof above my head and metal bars around the rest of the room. I noticed how cold the floor was as I put my feet on it and tried to stand up. There was room to stand up and walk around a little bit, but the bed took up most of the space.
"Rise and shine," I heard a voice say from behind me. I quickly spun around to see Ryan feeding and caressing a pig in a cage just like mine to my right. As I stared at him with disbelief, he looked up and gave me a small grin.
"Ryan? What the fuck is going on?" I asked, memories from earlier coming back into my head.
"Just the usual." There was a lack of emotion in his voice. He looked down at the pig one last time and walked over to me, staring at me through the metal bars.
"The usual?" I slowly asked as I looked at all the animals on each side of me. I heard "moos" and "clucks" and looked at the animals closest to me, most of them were asleep. To my left I spotted one cage with something in it that caught my eye. A small red bed, identical to the one in mine. As my eyes searched through there some more for what it could mean, I noticed a figure sitting in the corner with his face buried in his arms. Moving away from Ryan's content glare, I made my way closer to the him.
"Ray?" I asked, almost in disbelief. He looked up slowly and sure enough I saw his familiar glasses and cheekbones.
"Ah look, the friends are reunited," Ryan cooed.
I didn't feel any relief to see him, which I supposed made sense under the circumstances. His dark hair was in tangles and he had sleepy droopy eyes. He had to narrow and focus them to make sure it was me, as if that was the first time he had lifted his head up from that position for hours and was just getting used to the light.
"You're not going to greet him?" Ryan asked Ray, almost like he was a mother. Ray didn't reply, he looked at Ryan and then back at me with kind of a scared expression.
I couldn't describe the feeling I had to watch the man I had considered one of my closest friends acting so berserk, even if he had always been the one who was a bit mysterious. When I had blamed him for being a suspect in my head I hadn't imagined how it would actually play out. I didn't consider every aspect of what it would mean if Ryan actually had gone absolutely mental.
"Fucking christ! W-what have you done to him?" I asked. That was all I could let out.
"He did this to himself."
"Do you know if help is coming?" Ray finally asked me with a shaky voice, looking straight into me and ignoring Ryan. I had never seen him so terrified in my life, and even just seeing him like that made me feel extremely uncomfortable.
"I was supposed to be the help! RYAN WHAT THE FUCK MAN? THE WHOLE TIME, YOU'VE BEEN THE ONE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE MAHAM?"
"Surprised you didn't see it sooner," he said. His smile grew bigger every time he opened his mouth to speak. He was enjoying seeing me put the horrifying pieces together.
With a scream, I ran towards him and slammed into the metal bars, hoping I could somehow get through it and make it get out of the way. I fell to the ground in pain, and heard Ryan's chuckles behind the ringing in my ears. I felt betrayed and scared. There was a deep ache and a sharp pain in my shoulder at the same time. I held it with my hand as I slowly got up and tried to look him in the eye.
