(Gavin's POV)
I stayed in my room a lot more than usual after that day. I spent almost all of Monday thinking about a mix of Michael and who would want to take Ray. I started with thinking of who the second poorest person in Achievement City would be, and came to conclusion it must be Michael. I quickly crossed out the idea he could be to blame for it though. Besides, anyone could want money no matter how much of it they already have.
On Tuesday I spent time thinking about the possibility it wasn't anyone's fault. Unfortunately, Geoff was a bit upset I hadn't came out all day on Monday so he made me help build the Let's Build for the whole time. Geoff came up with a lot of the questions that were going to be asked for the trivia part and I mostly just did the absent minded building. I was still able to realize Ray was smart enough not to make himself a new spawn in the middle of nowhere. Someone had to be responsible for his disappearance.
On Wednesday I thought about people outside of the city. Anyone could have done it, fans, random strangers, or maybe someone in Rooster Teeth but not in Achievement Hunter. I thought the idea that a fan had somehow stumbled along AC was a good theory, even though it would be very hard to find it because we kept that location secret. The RT guys all lived about a two days walking distance away, and some of them were probably not getting much money off of the business. They all knew where Achievement City was. I didn't even want to think of it as being as someone I knew though. The more I did, the more anxious I felt around the others. When I was building some more that day Geoff kept giving me weird looks. In fact, it felt like everybody was! They couldn't have all thought it was me. But then again, I couldn't blame them. If I wasn't myself I might of thought it was me as well.
Thursday was the first day Michael had spoken to me since the incident. All he did was say "Hey," when I was walking back from building, but it felt like a big deal. He asked how I was doing, and didn't talk about Sunday. The thing that made it awkward was when Jack came out and joined what he thought must have been our full on conversation. "Why haven't I seen you two hanging out as much recently? I thought you were the love birds of the town!" he said. Both of us only awkwardly giggled at that. Michael must not have told Jack about it, which also might have meant he didn't tell anyone. I didn't know what that meant.
On Friday was the Let's Play. I think Geoff was expecting Ray to be back by then, which made it feel even more like something was missing. We were faced with the problem of what to tell the fans.
"So as some of you might have noticed, Ray isn't here. He's been on a family trip. Ya know, goin to go visit the parents and such," Geoff said.
Several "awww"s came from the crowd. Everyone loved Ray. I made eye contact with some of the RT employees who sat in the first row, who were all looking at each other in confusion. They hadn't heard about Ray's absence. During that time I should have kept an eye out for suspicious faces, but I could only stare at one. Lindsay. As much as I tried not to think about Michael, actually doing it was beyond possible. What was it about her that made Michael love her? It couldn't simply be her gender. I supposed she was nice and everything, but so was I! And I was his boy. I was his boy.
I felt like a lot of people were able to tell we were lying about Ray. I supposed it could have just been paranoia. On other circumstances when he was gone we would have yelled out and called him things like "that little shit!" Instead, everyone just put on a tight fake smile and went along with it.
"Anyways, that won't stop us from having the best Let's Play ever!" Geoff continued, putting on a funny fake over-enthusiastic voice. "Now for this one we've created multiple little stages coming out here as you can see. There are five different courses, but of course we're only going to be using four, and each one is exactly the same. There are, what, 15 questions Gavin?"
