Scott's P.O.V.
It was the night of the meeting, everyone who was going to escape with us all showed up. We were in my room sitting on the couch with everyone surrounding me. Steven was sitting next to me with Lux on his lap. Zach was across Steven with a tired looking Lina leaning against him. Grandma McNally was seated next to them and Mrs. Gilbert next to her. Aunt Shelly and Aunt Mia with Steven's dad was sitting on chairs from the kitchen. Angelique was sitting on our bed playing with Lucas. I smiled before I turned back to everyone.
"We have to get out of here," Shelly stated. She turned to watch Angelique.
"I don't understand, why?" Zach asked leaning forward.
"When we were attacked at the safe house, didn't it strike you as odd how they didn't even try to camouflage themselves. We could spot them almost instantly. I'm convinced that it was a way to force us to come here..." Mia piped in.
"...so they can attack us here and we'd have no escape what so ever," Angelique finished her sentence.
"I want to get the kids out before that happens. I don't exactly know when Brooklyn will attack again but I'm convinced that someone in the gang is behind this," I explained.
"Who and why would you think that?" Steven asked. He grabbed Lux's hand giving it a squeeze.
"I don't know who it is. The reason I think it's someone in our gang is because how on earth did the Brooklyns know where the safe house was?" I stated playing with my wedding ring on my finger.
"Do you know the reason behind why someone would do this?" Shelly asked taking Lucas from Angelique as she sat down on my lap.
"We think the motive is expanding Brooklyn's territory. If they gained out territory they'd be the largest ruling gang in the state," Angelique stated. I pulled her closer to my chest. Grandma McNally looked at us adoring before a look of guilt flashed through her eyes. Mmm I wonder what she knows.
"Ok I have a question?" Lina who has been quite the whole time finally spoke.
"Shoot," I replied.
"Why isn't Grandpa McNally apart of this meeting?" She asked.
"He's not apart of this because he wouldn't listen to me when I spoke about Brooklyn. I told him that I wanted to get the kids and you guys out but he said we'd be safe here but I disagree. I know something is not right and I have a feeling that he's part of it," I explained.
"Grandpa McNally? Part of this? Have you lost your mind?" Steven hissed.
"Think about it, why would he want to keep us here when he knows what Brooklyn will do," Mia suggested. Steven looked hurt when realization suddenly came through his mind.
"I'm sorry darling," Mia apologized.
"Ok now that all that is explained we need to figure out how we're going to escape without drawing attention to ourselves," I changed the subject. I started playing with my ring again when I felt Angelique grab my hand.
"Stop, we'll be fine. I promise," she whispered. I smiled at her before looking back.
"We could go two at a time, this week. Maybe lie about something urgent in out personal lives and then say that we'd like to take one person with us. We then lie about where we're going and go somewhere different. We should split up and head to remote locations," Grandma McNally suggested. I could see she cared a lot about those three ten year old kids. Probably because she didn't want this kind of life for them and she knew that they would have to make that decision next year when they all turn eleven.
