Angelique's P.O.V.

Today is the day I sign my life over to a man that I hate. I looked at myself in the mirror, I had a long beautiful white dress on. My sister helped put my veil over my tear stained face, luckily my make up was waterproof.

"Hey, look at me. You will always have me and Ben," she tried soothing me. Ben was my childhood best friend and we've been through a lot together.

"Thank you," I sniffed and hugged her,"Can you please get Ben, I need to talk to him?"

"Sure, be right back," she left the dressing room. I looked out of the window at all the people who came to attend my wedding. If only all of them knew the truth about my soon to be husband.

I thought that my life was bad living with my father who'd beat the crap out of me because he felt like it. My brother and sisters never went through this because they were all way older than I was.
My brother is 35, my eldest sister is 32 and my other sister is 29.
I wasn't planned, I just happened. I was the last and youngest child of the Adams family, a great disappointment to my father. However, I never felt like that, Ben made sure of that. He looked after me, he protected me. I'd call him after an episode with my father and he'd pick me up and take me back to his house where I'd sometimes spend up to a week recovering from my injuries. Only Ben's family knew what my father did to me and I made them swear to never tell a single soul.

I'm only nineteen so how am I supposed to be the perfect wife for a man I don't even know a thing about. I had plans. I wanted to go to university and make something of myself. I wanted to have a normal life but I guess that's not what my father had in mind. My mother wasn't so bad, all she ever did was pester me about my manners and my dressing style. According to her a lady should never slouch and should always wear a dress no matter how cold it is outside. Yeah I know she's crazy.
There was a knock on the door before it opened.

"Hey Christa said you wanted to see me," Ben came in. I lifted my veil up to reveal my tear stained face. His eyes softened as he pulled me into a hug.

"I don't want to go through with this, I can't. I'm scared," I sobbed into his chest.

"Shh baby girl, everything will be just fine, if he does anything to you just call and I'll come get you," he let go of me and wiped my tears away. He smiled and kissed the top of my head.

"What will I ever do without you?" I said sliding my veil back over my face.

"Come on, it's time," he said hooking my arm in his and walking me out the door. We walked up to the isle where my dad took over. Ben walked to the front and sat down next to my mother. The music started and we made our way to my future husband. My father handed me to him and I plastered the fakest smile I could muster on my face.

"Do you Scott McNally take Angelique Adams as your lawful wedded wife?" The pastor asked.

"I do," he replied. His face held no expression as he looked at me.

"Do you Angelique Adams take Scott McNally as your lawful wedded husband?" The pastor asked me. I hesitated before replying.

"I do," I wanted to cry but I did my best holding it in.

"I now pronounce you husband and wife, you may kiss the bride," the pastor said with a big smile on his face. Scott leaned down and lifted the veil. He planted a brief kiss in my lips and then started walking away. I followed him and stopped in front of the press with him to take a few pictures.

He grabbed my wrist and dragged me to the car. We got in and drove to his house.

"There are many rooms in my house but one and only one is yours. You are not permitted in any other rooms other than the kitchen, the living room and your room. We will not share a room unless I say otherwise, are we understood?" He looked at me with intense eyes.

"What if I don't obey these rules?" I asked. He grabbed the back of my head and pulled me close to his face.

"Don't test me, I'm capable of a lot of things and I'm quite good with my fists," he warned letting go of my head,"Are we clear on the house rules?"

"Yes Sir," I replied looking out of the window and moving as far from him as I could.

"You are not to leave the premises without my permission and I am to know where you are going at all times," he stated as the car pulled up to a large house. I nodded and we both got out of the car. I picked up the sides of my dress in order to keep the dress clean and to walk faster. We entered the house and he showed me to my room. All my clothes were already in the closet along with new clothes too. I quickly changed out of my wedding dress and hung it in the back of my closet. Scott went back to the office so I had nothing to do.
I decided to go to the kitchen and get something to eat. All of the sudden I heard that sounded like a baby crying. I knew I was breaking the rules going into a room I'm not supposed to but I wanted to see where the noise was coming from.

I wandered down the hallway and into a room where I found an infant boy screaming his lungs out. The lady who's supposed to look after him was asleep on the chair next to his crib. I went over to him and gently picked him up laying him on my shoulder, rubbing his back in a soothing manner.

"Shh, my darling, it's okay I'm here now," I silenced him. He stopped crying as I rocked him gently in my arms.

"What are you doing here, you stupid girl?" The lady who fell asleep stood up trying to take the baby away from me.

"I'm not stupid I just wanted to sooth the baby," I replied taking a step back.

"Oh I'm so sorry, I had a terrible headache and I didn't hear him cry," she replied.

"It's okay, to be honest I'm not even supposed to be in this room. If Mr. McNally finds out I was here I'm going to be in big trouble," I said looking down at the little baby asleep in my arms.

"Then it'll be our secret," she smiled at me," I'm Mrs. Gilbert."

"Hi, I'm Angelique well technically Mrs. McNally as of today," I informed her.

"Hello dear, this is Mr. McNally's son Lucas," she introduced.
He was beautiful and he looked more like his mother than his father.

"Where is his mother?" I couldn't help but ask. He looks no more than two months old so I'm just wondering.

"Oh dear, she died when Lucas was born. Her heart stopped when she went into labor and they couldn't resuscitate her. Lucas almost died but the doctors manage to save him," she looked down at him,"Mr. McNally however hasn't been able to cope with it, he doesn't even know what Lucas look like so I think you're the best thing that ever happened to this baby. Maybe you can take over the task of being this baby's mother, he needs one." She said. I looked down at Lucas and smiled.

"I'd be honored but Scott can never know, if he does I'd be in trouble," I said and she nodded.

" Come dear it's time for Lucas' feeding, the sooner you start learning how to raise him the better," she said leaving the room and returning with a warm bottle of milk. She gave the bottle to me and told me how to hold him while feeding him. This might just be what I need to keep me here, to keep me happy no matter what. This is my little angel.
