Scott's P.O.V.

Things that should be long forgotten always have a funny way of returning. I thought when Ben left Angelique he'd be gone for good but I guess I was mistaken. There's something about that guy I just don't trust, he's becoming a very annoying person in my life and I wish I could just get rid of him but to please my wife I guess I have to tolerate him for a little longer. I wasn't very happy to see him when he showed up a few minutes ago.

"Darling, if that man bothers you why is he still in your house?" My mom asked. I looked at her frowning.

"Isn't it obvious? I'm trying to stay on my wife's good side," I stated as if it the most obvious thing.

"Oh, then you should learn to tolerate him," she replied bouncing Lucas on her knee.

"Mom you don't understand, that guy was once in love with her," I replied bitterly.

"Yes dear that was once but this is the present, he probably has someone else he loves. Don't worry we'll find out soon enough," she said.

"How do you know?" I asked. I was still really uncertain but I guess she's right.

"I'm your mom it's my job to know," she stated. Just then Ben and Angelique entered the room.

"I have some great news,"Angelique announced.

"What that?" I asked curiously.

"Ben is getting married," she replied excitedly. I looked at my mother in disbelief. How did she know?

"That's fantastic, I wish you and your fiancé a happy life," my mom said.

"Thank you, it would be my pleasure if you could attend my wedding," Ben said which caused her to smile.

"Of course I'd love to," she replied getting up. She handed Lucas to me and sat down again.

"Angelique will be my best girl so Scott you're invited as well," he stated giving me a tight smile.

"Thanks I'd be honored. Congratulations on your engagement," I replied tightly. Angelique sensing the tension between us quickly jumped in.

"Ben would you like to stay for dinner?" She asked which only caused me to glare at her.

"No but thanks anyway. Abella is waiting for me and I have to get back to her. I just came to tell you the great news," he stated and got up. Finally he's leaving.

" Thanks for taking the time to discuss this with me, it's really nice of you," Angelique said walking him out. I got up once she closed the front door.

"So he's getting married," I blurted.

"Yes he is," she agreed.

"How do you feel about it then?" I asked. She turned to me with a big smile on her face.

"I feel great, I don't feel guilty anymore," she replied which caused me to frown.

"Why would you feel guilty?" I asked handing Lucas to Mrs. Gilbert.

"Because I hurt him so bad and I'm just extremely happy that he forgave me and found love at the same time," she replied getting a bottle of water from the fridge.

"Angie you didn't hurt him, he hurt himself. He knew you never loved him," I explained which caused her to look down.

"I did love him once," she confessed.

"You what?" I asked again not able to believe what she just said.

"I was in love with him but that was so long ago. It was when I was still a freshman in high school," she explained and I relaxed a little. I dread what the answer to my next question might be.

"When did you stop loving him?" I asked and she turned to me.

"It was the night after my father..." she paused. I felt guilty for asking so I wrapped her in my arms.

"Why after that?" I asked again.

"I stopped because I realized my night in shinning armor wasn't always going to be there and that the stupid crush is taking up my time which I needed to focus and figure out how to escape my family," she explained. She wrapped her arms around my waist and rested her head on my chest. I had completely relaxed now not feeling threatened anymore.

"So when's the wedding?" I asked looking down at her.

"In two weeks. His mom wants them to go to Paris for their honeymoon," she stated. I smiled and let go of her.

"Okay then we have enough time to take Lucas up to the cabin and make it back in time for the wedding," I replied.

"Why are we going to the cabin?" She asked.

"Because I have a surprise for you," I replied. I'm going to ask her to marry me.

Few days later...

We have been at the cabin for only a couple of hours. Mrs. Gilbert insisted that Lucas stay with her while we're at the cabin and besides my mother wanted some alone time with her grandson.

"Gosh I love it here, I forgot how pretty it is here," Angelique stated looking out at the lake.

"Yes I know," I smiled wrapping my arms around her.

Two hours later...

We were walking on the beach down by the docks. I had blindfolded her and was leading her to a table with a candle light dinner all set up. I put lights in the trees to make it more romantic and there were more candle around the table and leading up to the shore. Yeah I know I'm being super cheesy.

"Can I open my eyes yet?" She asked.

"No we're almost there just a little longer," I whispered in her ear.

"Okay," she said. I lead her onto the dock but stopped and took off the blindfold. She gasped as she looked around at our setting.

"Do you like it?" I asked grabbing her hand and walking with her to our table.

"I love it," she said excitedly. Now was the perfect time to ask. I went down on one knee and pulled out the little black box.

"Angie," she turned to me and gasped clutching her hand over her mouth.
"I was wonder if you would do me the honor of answering a question I have for you?" I asked and she nodded.

"Yes," she replied.

"Will you marry me?" I asked.

"Yes I will," she said. I got up and slid the ring on her finger. Then I wrapped her in a hug. She leaned back and kissed me.

"I love you," she smiled.

"I love you too," I replied and kissed her.
