27. No Matter What

Jade's POV

"Jade and Lester, come here please." Mrs. Miles said. We exchanged looks before walking out of the classroom. Once we were outside and away from everyone, Mrs. Miles said, "Alright, you two. What's going on with Patience?" Lester took a deep breath and said, "She's upset that I'll be moving at the end of the semester." Mrs. Miles raised an eyebrow. "That's it?"

Dafuq is wrong with you? I thought. She's really upset and all you say is 'that's it.' Wow.

"What do you mean that's it?!" Lester said, taking the words right out of my mouth. "Don't use that tone of voice with me, Harris. Just go in there and comfort her." Mrs. Miles snapped. What's her problem? "Excuse me?" "What?" I asked. "I have a problem?" Oh s.hit.

"No you don't." "Get back to your seat." Mrs. Miles said. When I walked in the room, Patience had stopped crying. "Are you alright?" I asked. She nodded but didn't say anything. I didn't ask her any more questions. I felt other people staring at me but I ignored them.

"How was your day, honey?" Mum asked me. "It was alright." "Do you know if you're exempt from any classes yet?" "I won't find out until Wednesday." I replied. "Ok." Mum's phone rang. "Excuse me."

I walked into the kitchen and saw that Mum had bought us pizza from Little Caesars. I opened the box and got two slices for myself before Karl ate the rest. I found him in the living room playing Call of Duty and eating pizza at the same time. "What are you doing? You were supposed to shoot him, not me!" Karl screamed, making me jump. "Shut up! Mum is on the phone!" I replied.

Karl turned around. "She is? Sorry." I nodded and ate a slice of my pizza. As I was eating, Mum came back. "Good news, babies. I just got hired at JcPenney!" Karl paused his game and hugged her. "Congrats Mum!" "Thank you dear." I hugged her. "Nice! I've always wanted to work there." I said. "Don't you like your job, dear?" "I do but there's this one guy who acts like the manager that gets on my nerves." "Have you told the real manager?" Karl asked. "I did but he hasn't done anything yet." "Remind him about it again." Mum said. "I will." I replied.

"Now it's time for us to get ready for tomorrow. Karl, turn off the game. Jade, put the pizza in the fridge. Lights out by 10 pm sharp." Mum said. She gave us hugs and kisses. "Good night." "Night Mum." Karl and I said at the same time. "Jinx!" I quickly said to Karl. He groaned while I laughed. I love messing with him.
