Chapter One
Boy ByeLeslie
"Remember to study for the test Monday. Class dismissed." Professor Johnson said before turning off the smart board.
I grabbed my purse and binder from the seat next to me. I was so glad that it was my last class and that it was Friday. I couldn't believe that in a little over seven months, I'd have a bachelor's degree in psychology. It was a long journey but I made it through. After three years of hard work, studying, late nights, and tears, it was starting to pay off. Thank God.
I unlocked the doors of my 2014 black Lexus and climbed behind the steering wheel. It was the middle of October and pretty outside. It was cool and brown leaves covered the grass. I love autumn.
My phone buzzed on my lap. I grabbed it and checked the text message.
Come over.
It was a text from my friend, Keri. I texted her back 'okay' and placed my phone in the cupholder.
I pulled from the campus parking lot and onto the busy highway. I stopped by the high school and picked up my little sister, Lyla. It was her senior year. I was proud of her for always being on honor roll and being athletic all at the same time.
"How was your day?" I asked her.
"I broke up with Alex once again." She rolled her almond shaped, brown eyes and crossed her arms over her chest. "He's so stupid."
Her and Alex were always breaking up. He's a sweet guy but they both have mental issues. They broke up at least twice a month and right back together the very next day. I knew that Alex would be calling soon to tell me about the situation and asking to tell Lyla to call.
"Y'all are bipolar." I laughed. "Knowing y'all will be right back together."
Lyla didn't say anything the rest of the ride. I dropped her off at our dad's house. She got out of the car, slamming the door. I decided against cursing her out because I knew she was upset. She'll be calling to apologize, I thought to myself.
