Hawaii was a beautiful place and spending it with Max was even better. He said he wanted you and him to take a vacation together. Nothing too special, just discovering new lands and foods.
Lately you've discovered something new yourself. Feelings. But you didn't want your emotions to interrupt your time with Max.
Your heart thought otherwise.
It was early dusk and the sun was painting the sky with red, orange, and pink. You and Max were walking along the boardwalk of the beach alone. Everyone else went home since it was getting late.
In your summer outfit, the cool breeze of the night came and it tickled your skin. Goosebumps began rising, but it was actually nice. Finally something to cool down with from the hot day.
You and Max soon stopped walking to take a breath. You both leaned over the edge of the boardwalk and just stared at the other end of the ocean. Now the sky was bringing blue into it's canvas.
"Beautiful isn't it?" Max commented while standing rather close to you; you didn't mind anyways.
You nodded, humming a yes. You looked around and the water was still crashing onto the shore. The sea foam looked grey, but it was still pretty.
"This is such a nice place. The people are awesome, the food is great, and the tourist attractions are amazing." You breathily mentioned while crossing your arms over the railing.
"Thanks for the trip here, Max. I really like it." Your voice ended up in a whisper. The wind was blowing your hair back and it felt great on your skin.
Max was discreetly looking at you. He saw the way your hair was riding in the wind behind you, how your eyes still sparkle with the decreasing light, and how your skin looked soft under the approaching dark sky.
"You're welcome, (Y/N). Glad to please you." Max has that cheeky smile in his tone. You turned to him and found his eyes on you. You grinned making Max laugh. He turned back to the sunset.
"It's getting dark. Do you want to go back to the hotel?" You asked curiously noticing the colors above you started to fade out. Max didn't say something for a second.
"No, not yet." Max sighed, his eyes falling in love with the scene in front of him. You gave a small smile seeing the happiness in his eyes. It made your heart flutter.
Max's mouth opened to say something, but he was interrupted.
All of sudden, clouds rolled in above the both of you and rain drops started crashing down. It started pouring which lead to you and Max being soaked the second it fell.
"Oh my god!!" You squealed as your now cold shirt stuck to your torso. Max reached for your hand and you took it willingly as he pulled you somewhere to find shelter.
(Pretend those people are in a shirt and shorts because you're in Hawaii)
Unfortunately, you two had to go into the hotel that was a 3 minute run from the boardwalk. By the time you both got there, there was a trail of water behind you. Max still had your hand in his.
His hand was surprisingly soft, and it held your hand very comfortably. Sadly Max let go to move the hair of his face. You had to do the same thing anyways.
People in the hotel lobby were probably staring at you and Max as you both squeezed the water out of your clothing, definitely leaving a mess. The next thing you know is that employees started dropping towels at your feet and giving your own to dry off. You thanked them for the kind gesture.
You and Max began heading for the elevators and the coldness of the hotel started to hit you both. Max started shivering so he put the towel over his head to cover himself. You just wrapped yours around your shoulders.
"You look ridiculous." You playfully scoffed in the elevator as Max was shaking. "You don't look any different." Max spat back. You giggled at his remark.
The desired floor was presented so you and Max got out and speed walked to the room. Max took out the keycard and let the lock scan it, receive two beeps, and push the door open.
You ran for the bed and you threw yourself on it. You picked up the puffy blanket and wrapped it around you to regain warmth.
Max followed, plopping himself next to you, shoving himself under the blanket.
You and Max laughed at each other as you tried to get comfortable. You buried your head in the pillow to get warmth and it was kind of helping.
"Max?" You then asked remembering something. You looked up at him and he stopped shivering. His hair was put back because of the rain, but his eyes were still shining like it was morning. He still looked handsome even after he was rained on.
"Yes?"
"What we're you gonna say at the boardwalk?" You asked your eyebrows narrowing with wonder. Max swallowed a lump in his throat and you saw his Adam's apple move. He avoided eye contact for a second only to return back to yours.
"I just wanted to say I love you."
You blinked multiple times, your heart racing, and your adrenaline increasing. You were speechless.
"I know that was so quick and sudden, but I couldn't hold it in anymore. This whole vacation was like a photo shoot and you were the model that I couldn't stop looking at. Even at the boardwalk I couldn't watch the sunset because your beauty captivated me."
Max's face turned into fright, nervousness, and happiness. It was a weird mixture; it was an expression you read off of this ginger. His choice of words were also catching off guard.
Max sat up from the bed and you followed his actions, facing him while the blanket was still around your body.
"(Y/N), I love you. I've loved you for a while now and I thought maybe coming to Hawaii was a great place to confess." Max shrugged. A small grin twitched at the corner of your mouth.
"I love you too, Max. I wanted to tell you, but I didn't want anything to complicate." You gave a breath of relief looking into Max's eyes.
Then, the air felt thick. Max's eyes wandered to your lips; you watched him lean in closer. Your eyes closed as the gap between you and Max closed. As soon as his lips touched yours, fireworks went off in your stomach.
He held your cheek as your hands propped yourself up on the mattress. Max's lips were so soft you didn't want this moment to end. Sadly, you had to pull away. You didn't want to suffocate yourself. Hell, you'd kiss him again anyways.
Max smiled down at you still holding your face and you grinned back with pure joy.
"I'm so happy I fell in love with you." Max whispered pressing his forehead against yours.
"Me too, Max. Me too."
Like you said, you'd kiss him again.
And you did.
