Chapter 40 - A Bit of Fun

I woke up feeling refreshed and happy, I stretched and yawned loudly.

"Sleep well?" a deep voice chuckled.

I looked to my left to see Thorin propped up on one arm staring at me.

"Yes I did, no thanks to someone's snores" I teased.

"I'm sorry were my snores too loud?"

"Perhaps"

"I'm offended Asema!"

"Soo sorry Mr Snores a lot!" I laughed as I jumped out of bed

I ran to the dining room with Thorin on my heels, just like old times I thought.

"Hey! Get back here!" He laughed

"No way slowpoke!"

By now everyone else had woken up and had come to watch our silly game of chase. I was enjoying myself it had been too long since I had laughed so hard. I ran over to Bilbo and picked him up,

"Stay back, or I'll do something drastic to him," I said seriously

Bilbo looked at me with shock in his eyes, but when he saw the mischievous glint in my eyes, he knew he had nothing to worry about. Thorin stopped as he stared at me.

"You won't hurt him" Thorin stated

"Don't try me Thorin you never know" I mocked

By now I had backed up to the back door, and I quickly pushed Bilbo into Thorin and ran outside. With a surprised shout, Thorin got up and ran after me the rest of the dwarves following us. I reached a tree and climbed up it quickly, now hiding from Thorin; I could hear all of them running around. I saw Thorin run under the tree I was in

"Asema where are you?" Thorin called

I silently jumped behind him and tapped him on the shoulder, he turned around, and I turned with him (so I was still behind his back). I touched his shoulder again, and he became confused for he couldn't see me. The third time I tapped him I wasn't so lucky, he grabbed me by the legs before I could move. Screaming and laughing I struggled against his grip as he pulled me towards the dwarves.

"Thorin! Let me go!"

"Nope!" He yelled back

So I just relaxed as he pulled me towards the group, he put me down and then said something to them. They then all smiled and nodded before I could ask what he had said they all rushed towards me. I tried to scramble up, but I was tackled into a big dwarf hug thing. I screamed and laughed at the same time; they had begun to tickle me.

"Ahhhh stop!! I can't breathe stop!!" I cried

With a few last chuckles, the dwarves round me stopped tickling me, and I sat upright trying to get my breath back. I then got up and glared at the dwarves.

"What was that for?" I whined

Balin chuckled at my childlike behaviour

"It was a distraction while Thorin prepares a surprise for you."

"Ooh ooh, what is it?!" I asked

"Well if we told you it wouldn't be a surprise now would it?"

"No fair! Balin! I don't like surprises!"

"I think you'll like this one" the old dwarf chuckled.

I huffed and folded my arms, I saw the old dwarf look to Dwalin, and he nodded. I stared at the strange gesture they gave each other. Dwalin then began walks toward me

"Wait for Dwalin...... What are you doing? Ooooof! Dwalin! Put! Me. Down. This instant!" I shrieked

"Sorry, Asema but strict orders from Thorin to take you and get you cleaned up," Dwalin said.

"I hope you're not going to help me get cleaned up" I mumbled

"I can if you want me to," Dwalin said with a cocked eyebrow

"Ewww! No, I don't need your help!" I said as I smacked him on the head

"Hey! That hurt!"

But I couldn't reply because he dropped me into a big tub of cold water,

"Oh, My God!! It's freezing! Dwalin!!" I shrieked, but he just tossed me a bar of soap and a towel.

"Gandalf will come in ten minutes and give you something to wear," said Dwalin.

"Why?"

"Well your clothes are now all wet, and Thorin wants you to wear something else you'll see," Dwalin said with a smile

I huffed again as I watched Dwalin walk away, I began to take off my now soaking wet clothes, and I noticed how dirty I was. I was covered in dry blood and dirt, god if I knew this I would have taken a bath earlier! God, I smell! So using the bar of soap, I washed the blood and dirt from my body and my hair. Once done I got out of the tub and wrapped myself in the towel Dwalin had given to me. I looked at the container and saw that the water was now a red-brown colour, I then looked at my arms and noticed how much weight I had lost.

'Wow I am way too skinny even for my liking, I need to gain some weight'. I then noticed Gandalf walking towards me, he was holding something over his arm, and I wanted to know what it was he was going to get me to wear.

"Ah much better! You no longer have all that blood and dirt all over you" he chuckled.

"Well, you could've told me earlier" I mumbled.

"Yes well you were tired, and I was too from entering your mind."

"Oh right, that's a valid reason."

"I should hope so; now Thorin has asked me to give you this dress to wear. After you've put it on meet me at the front of the house and ill take you to the next place you need to go."

"Um ok."

So Gandalf handed me the dress and walked back to the front of the house, I looked at the dress and gasped it was the most beautiful thing! It was black and gold, so the primary colour was black, and it had golden designs flowing around the whole dress. I slipped on the dress and sighed out happily; the material felt wonderful against my body. I wore no shoes but I liked going barefoot, so following Gandalf's instructions I went to the front of the house to meet him.

"You look wonderful Asema," Gandalf said

"Thank you Gandalf; I must say that this dress is beautiful! So thank you."

"Yes I thought you'd like it, now this is Aela she will take you to Thorin," Gandalf said

He pointed to a black horse that had four white stockings; she was beautiful. I walked up to her and mounted on her reins was a note.

'Dear Asema

By now I'm sure you're in a beautiful dress and on your horse Aela, yes she is for you a gift from Beorn and myself. Perhaps you are wondering why you are getting dressed up well I wanted to have a particular moment with you. So Aela will bring you to me, and I will show you a big surprise. I hope to see you soon my love

Wow, he's doing all this for me? That's so sweet. I smiled at the note and Aela started to trot forwards. I wonder where she is taking me.

"Have fun Asema!" Gandalf called

"I will!" I yelled back
