I let my lips brush hers softly and there was a split second of complete bliss.
Her breath tasted like booze and vanilla chapstick.
I cupped her face with my hand and brought her chin closer to mine. Then I realized what I was doing. I was kissing Heather. I have a girlfriend, Katherine. I shouldn't be doing this right now. But I don't want to stop.
Then she jerked away and gasped.
"W-what? Did you just-?""I-I'm sorry, I just. I wasn't thinking I'm sorry!"
Her eyes were wide and her lip was trembling, she was afraid of me.
"I'm so sorry, really Heather I am. Your probably drunk right now and scared but I would never hurt you."
"I just want to go home." She said in a small voice.
"I'll take you home come on." I took her hand and helped her up. Then we walked to my car outside together. I had no idea who Kathrine was off screwing but she could find her own ride home.
I opened the door for Heather and she murmured a quiet thank you. She had to have a horrible head ache and this loud music and shouting was probably making it worse.
I needed to get her somewhere quiet. But when I glanced over at her she was asleep. I guessed that she lived on Kathrine's street but I didn't know which house. And what if Kathrine saw us. I decided to play it safe and take her to my place where she could at least get some peace and quiet...and some Advil.
We pulled up into my garage but she was still fast asleep so I lifted her up and carried her into my apartment.
I later her on the couch and went to get her a glass of water. When I came back she was awake.
"Thanks for bringing me here, I was kind of overwhelmed." She said
"Yeah, I know how I felt at my first big party." I sighed.
"How did you know it was my first?"
"Just a hunch." I laughed. She giggled softly. Her laugh was so nice, it made me happy.
"So I heard your new to Sople district. Where did you move from." I asked.
Her her eyes darkened and her laugh dyed immediately. "I moved here from Virginia, because my mom died."
I wanted so badly to give her a hug. She looked so sad and fragile. I sat down on the couch next to her.
"I've had a lot of hardships and lost people close to me. And I haven't always had someone to turn too. I've been alone most of the time. And had to deal with my problems alone." I said, my focus drifted off a bit as I remembered. I felt Heather scoot closer and take my hand.
"Last year, my brother was in a car crash. He was riding back from football practice with some friends. They were hit by a drunk driver. Everyone in the accident was airlifted to the nearest hospital. Everyone else was injured but nothing fatal. Except my brother. After three days he died."
When I looked back at Heather she was looking at me very intently. She was also very close. She took my hand. "I'm so sorry Luke."
She wasn't like other girls. She was different, she cared.
I smiled and she glanced down at my lips.
"I don't know if it was a dream or not but-but did you kiss me? When you found me in the closet."
She asked shyly. And it dawned on me, I can tell her whatever I want and she won't remember tomorrow.
"Yes, and it was amazing. I really like you." She smiled and looked down.
"I'm sorry that I did it without asking, but if I asked this time would you let me so it again?" I asked softly
She looked at me, and cautiously nodded. I smoothed a strand of hair behind her ear. "May I?"
She looked down at my lips and nodded again. Her arms wrapped around my neck as our lips met again.
