Olivia's POV:
I grunted as my alarm blared, I reached out for my phone on the bedside table and turned the alarm off. I checked my phone and it's 8 am... Great time for another day at work. After laying in bed for 5 minutes staring at the ceiling, I finally got up and got ready. I headed downstairs to get breakfast and grabbed a banana and a slice of toast - not very filling but it will do.
45 minutes later, I finally made it to work. I dragged myself to the entrance of the building. Why was I so lethargic? Then I remembered I was out partying till 3 in the morning, that would explain my lack of energy today. I got to my desk and started work. I'm an entertainment editor at a newspaper company and working here can be fun sometimes and at other times it can be annoying. There are some people here who talk behind your back and then they're talking to me like they haven't done anything. Sometimes when certain co- workers are talking to me, I put my headphones on and they get the hint. Am I being a bitch? If so, oh well. Some of the conversations they have are about other workers and I don't want to be involved in their conflict.
While I was doing my work, the manager came in with another man who was probably about 6 foot, he had blue eyes and messy hair like he just got out of bed. "Everyone, if I can get your attention. Meet our newest member of the editing team, Dan Smith." My manager said. Suddenly I remember him, we went to the same university, worked at the same coffee shop at one point and now he's working here with me. What the hell! He glanced over at me and immediately he recognised me and his friendly expression turned to anger in a few seconds. "There is your work space next to Olivia." My manager pointed in my direction. Great, he's sitting next to me now, what more can go wrong?
I carried on working and ignored him for the whole day. After work was finished, I quickly got my stuff together and left.
As soon as I got home, I rang my friend, Rachel. "Come on, pick up," I sighed.
"Hey, Livvy. Sorry, I took so long to answer, I was in the shower. What's up?" Rachel asked.
"Hi, it's okay. Someone from uni is working in the same department as me," I said.
"Oh, that's nice!" she said excitedly.
"No, not nice! I hate him!" I shouted.
"Oh, why?" She asked.
I sighed, "I just do okay?"
"Well, there has to be a reason why you hate him."
I've never told Rachel about Dan and I but I was the one that brought up this conversation, so I might as well tell her.
"We were friends in uni and we were quite close actually. We went to a house party and he got pretty drunk and he went around telling everyone that I was a bitch and that I slept with most of the guys on campus and how I was a whore."
"Omg, what a jerk! What kind of friend does that?"
"I asked him why he said those things and he said he didn't mean it and that he was drunk. He then said that me being a bitch was true, so I slapped him and left."
"Wow, he deserved that slap! That's so rude of him."
"I know. Enough about me, what are you up to?"
"I'm getting ready to go on my date!"
"Ooh, I won't keep you any longer. Have fun on your date, bye!"
"Thanks, bye!"
After talking to Rachel, I had dinner which was pizza and then I went to bed.
