Chapter 8

Today is Friday, the end of the first week of the student year. I am happy that I managed to adapt and get used to this new life. Barcelona is beautiful, just like the life in it. I made new friends, I managed to walk around and see most of Barcelona. Just as I finished the lecture and left the amphitheater, the phone vibrated and I got a message.

Elsa: When you're done with the lectures, come in the cafe in front of the faculty :D

I went to the cafe and there I saw Alex, Elsa and Mateo. Alex waved to me when he saw me coming, so I approached and sat down with them.

"Hi guys. What are you doing?"

"Mateo says he has some surprise for us. We waited for you to come so we can know what it is."-Elsa said.

"I love surprises. Well I'm here Mateo, shoot. "

Mateo smiled and pulled something from the wallet. "Here you are. Four tickets for tomorrow's football match between FC Barcelona and Atletico Madrid. I do not know if you follow football girls,but I must not miss these cards "

I could see that we were all surprised but delighted.

"Are you crazy? I've always wanted this. I totally count it as a birthday present. "- I said

"Do not tell me that today is your birthday."

"It is not today Alex, calm. It's on Monday."

Elsa and I drank Cappuccino, Alex and Mateo Espresso, while Mateo told us how he had come to the cards. After a while, we headed back to the dormitory.

Elsa and Alex continued to a night-club party so it was just me and Mateo now.

"This was the best day of my life Mateo. I do not know how to thank you for making this wish come true."- I told Mateo with a smile as we were returning back to the dormitory from the Camp Nou.

"No need to thank me Sophia. I'm glad if you had a good time,because I did."

When we got home, before we separated, I hugged him. I do not know how it happened, I felt like the hands set up themselves around him. And he put his muscular arms around me. My head was touching his chest and I listened to his heartbeat. Burst? Certainly not Sophia, and who you imagine that you are. Honestly I do not know how truly the embrace lasted, but hopefully I dropped a few seconds later.

"Goodnight Sophia"-he said softly, with the cutest smile.

"Good night Mateo." - I said, and got into the apartment.

I was really tired. I took a shower, put on pajamas and lay down on the bed. I took the phone and wrote a short message to my mother,-information that I am well and that here is great.

I always fall asleep easily and quickly, but tonight I was tossing in bed, maybe an hour. I do not know what was happening to me and why I was thinking of Mateo. We hugged. I hugged him. Why? Actually fine, friendly hug,of course it's okay. Friendly? Of course it's friendly, he's my friend. Was his heart beating rapidly? Certainly not, no reason for it. Why think of it Sophia? He is only your friend, I repeated myself, until I fell asleep.

Mateo's POV

I returned to the apartment. Today was a really lovely day but the euphoria and excitement took the energy away from me. I took a shower,changed into pajamas and lay down. She hugged me. This thought appeared to me as soon as I lay down and closed my eyes. I should have done that first,i should've hugged her. I could not believe it was happening. I placed my hands around her and enjoyed it. Her head touching my chest. Did she hear my heartbeat quickened? No, no, no reason for my heart beating rapidly, it was a friendly hug. Then why do you think of it and you experience the moment again in your head? Come back to ground Mateo, it is nothing more than friendship. She is only your friend, I repeated myself, until I fell asleep.

It's so obvious that they like each other but will they admit it? And Sophia's birthday is coming so will there be a party and what will happen there? If Sophia likes Mateo now,will she feel the same after she finds out about his life and secrets?
