Chapter 11
India’s POV
It was time for the baby to come. I was in pure pain. I felt like climbing up the wall. Seriously. Somebody should have told me about the pain. Ron was holding my hands. He was trying to get me to calm down, but that was a failure. He was whispering calm words into my ear. Then, the doctor yelled for me to push. I was pushing and squeezing Ron’s hand at the same time. The doctor yelled for me to push one more time, so I did while squeezing Ron’s hand. I gave one more push. As I was doing so, I yelled at Ron,
“I’m going to kill you!”
He just kissed my forehead. I finally stopped pushing. I dropped my head on the pillow. I still held onto Ron’s hand. He ran his hands through my hair. I heard a faint cry. I was glad my baby was out. They let Ron cut the baby free. After cleaning my baby and wrapping her up, they brought her to me. I carefully took her from the nurse’s arm, cradling her in mines. She was so tiny. I looked down at her tiny face. Her eyes were closed, but she was moving. Her face was red like mines. She had that curly hair like me too. Her eyes, mouth, and noise resembles Ron. She was a red baby for now. Ron hovered over me, admiring out new-born baby. I looked up at him.
“You wanna hold her?” I asked.
He simply took her from my arms. I looked up at him. It was cute! He had his scrubs on, holding her. I could already she was going to be a daddy’s girl. I took Ron’s phone, which was on the stand next to me. I unlocked it and went to camera. I took a picture of them two.
It was so cute! I watched him as he talked to her. One nurse came back in.
“Ma’am, would you like to bottle feed or breast feed the little one?” she asked.
“I’m bottle feeding.”
“Well, here you go. You can feed her.”
“Thank you.”
I took the filled bottle and asked Ron for her. He carefully handed her over to me. I sat her in the right position and fed her. Ron sat in the chair beside me. I looked at him, realizing my lil bro was out there.
“Ron, go and get Blake.”
“Aight.”
When he left out, I focused back on Nala. I smiled at my little girl. I fell in love with her.
“Hey, mommy’s baby! You’re so cute. You you’re going to be spoiled. Daddy is going to spoil you till the earth ends.”
I heard the door squeak open. I looked up to see Blake and Ron, plus the crew. I smiled at them as they smiled at me. Kiona ran over to me.
“Oh my gosh! My God baby is here! She is too cute!”
“I know right!”
“Can I hold her?”
“Yea.”
I handed her to Kiona. They all took turned holding her. I think Ron held her more than anybody. Nala was just a precious baby to me. After about an hour, they had to take her into the nursery room. They told me they had to keep her for a week a so since she was born pre-mature, and they needed to make sure the baby was healthy. I could be released from the hospital the next day. They then asked me to fill out the birth certificate.
This is to certify that Nala Sani Robison, weighing 4 LBS and 13 ounces, was born on the 14 of February, born to India Westbrook and Ron Robison in the year 2014.

I had been at home for three weeks. In those three weeks, Ron and I were setting up for Nala. Her room was nice and ready. Of course I directed things while Ron, Tre, and Tony actually moved things around. We had to move Blake’s room downstairs, which I’m really iffy about, but Nala took his room. Nala’s room was a hot pink color, with white furniture. Above her crib was a drawing\painting of a branch with leaves on them. On the nightstand beside the bed, there stands her birth certificate. Before you walked into the room, a pink and black polka-dot N hung on the door. It was pretty. I couldn’t wait till my baby get home from the hospital.
We didn’t just work on Nala’s room; we also worked on Blake’s room. Ron and I let him decorated it anyway he wanted. He had a full size bed. The wall color was a baby blue color. The theme of the room was sports. Tre bought him a flat screen TV. He also had a book shelf in there, where he kept his book and movies at. All around his room walls were footballs, basketballs, soccer balls, and baseballs. He had all of his snapbacks and beanies lined up on the top of his bookshelf. Before you entered his room, there was a sign that read: Warning! Blake lives here. His room was dope.
“India, Ms. Drea is here!” Ron called from downstairs.
I slipped on my boots and walked out of Nala’s room. I was hanging up her clothes and putting some of them in drawers. I walked downstairs, into the living room. Ms. Drea was in the living room, talking to Ron. I walked over, smiling at her.
“Hey, momma!” I exclaimed, hugging her.
I have always called Ms. Drea momma. She kind of took that role when my momma became a drug addict. I love her for that. She was so sweet a caring. She actually felt like my momma.
“Hey, baby. Where is Blake?”
“He’s taking a nap. He had a long day at school.”
“Oh, alright. I actually wanna talk to you guys on a serious note.”
Ron and I glanced at each other, and then back at Ms. Drea. I could tell it was something serious by her tone in voice and face expression. Ron and I gave her our undivided attention.
“Guys, I know how it feels to be a teen mother. I was once in that position with Dream. It’s going to be hard. I just want you know that I’m here whenever you need me…Well, whenever I can keep her. Also, India I am very disappointed in you for having a baby in an unstable home. Ron, I know you’re older and I know your ‘job’. I want this baby to have a good life. Better than this. India, just because you have a baby doesn’t mean you have to stop going to school. I want you to go to college, be somebody, and give your child and Blake something good. You hear me? I love you, Blake, and Nala, and Ron.”
“I hear you momma and I love you too. I promise I have a plan to get out of here.”
“Good, alright. I have to leave for work. See you babies later.”
She kissed my cheek, hugged Ron, and left. I looked at Ron, thinking about what momma told us. She was right. I was actually planning on it. I don’t need my baby here in all of this madness. We could do better, and I was going to do better.
*****
At month later, my baby girl was finally able to come home. I was more than happy. The thing is, I wasn’t the one picking her up. Ron went and picked up her because he said he had s surprise. So, I was at home with Blake. I was cooking dinner for us. As I was cooking, Blake came into the kitchen. I smiled at him.
“What’s up, home boy?”
“India, are you going to forget about me?” He caught me off guard with that. I sat the spoon down to give him my undivided attention. We walked into the living room and sat down.
“Blake, why would you say something like that?”
“Well, the baby is here, and I know y’all are going to give all y’all attention to her.”
“Baby brother, a baby needs a lot of attention. We gave you all the attention when you were born, but I promise, I could never forget you, because you are my lil thug and my lil bro. I love you. If something happened to you, I would be devastated.”
I leaned over and hugged him. I really didn’t want him feeling like that. Blake will forever be my baby brother and the love of my life, no matter what happens in life. I heard the door open and Ron calling my name. I let go of Blake as he came into the room, holding Nala in her chair. I quickly walked over and picked her up. Her eyes were fully opened. She looked around, taking in her surroundings. I started to kiss all over her.
“Bruh, don’t kiss on my baby like that,” Ron said.
“Whatever. I pushed her out.”
“And I help make her.”
“Boy, bye!” I continued loving my child. I looked up at him. “What’s my surprise?”
“Look outside.”
I went to the window and looked out. I had seen red and black 2013 Hummer. That’s the car I’ve been wanting for forever. I love this boy!
