Chapter 7

Mya’s POV

I walked down the streets of Compton, California. It felt good outside to be January evening. The streets were busy as always. People were slanging drugs, prostitutes were out, and cops were fresh on the blocks. I had my ear-phones in my ear, listening to Mindless Behavior: Favorite Song. My hands were tucked into the pockets of my pants as I sung along. Today was just one of those days I needed to get away from the outside world, and touch in with my inside world. All it means is that I needed to think or I needed alone time. It was nothing personal. I saw guys looking at me, but I knew none of them dared to come up to me because I’m Tony’s girl, and Tony would kill over me. That’s one of the many things I love about him. He reminded me of my brother. I miss Dream.

While I walked, I felt someone grab my arm and pull me back. I looked to see some random dude. He cute, I admit. He was a Mexican, with a pretty baby face. He had nice wavy hair. His eyes were brown, and his lips were just right.

I looked at him like he was crazy. Like, hello, sir! Who snatches a girl in broad day light? But then again, this is Compton. People around here ain’t really scared to do anything. Anyways, I gave him a stank look and TRIED jerking away from him, but it didn’t work. He pulled my earphones out of my ear.

“Mami, usted es lindo.”

“Thanks. I know I am. Now, let me go.”

I tried getting away again, but no! He tightened his grip with every move I made. I was afraid there would be a bruise there. He pulled me closer to him, speaking Spanish to me. I knew what he was saying, and it made me very scared. He then drugged me over to a white, old Monte Carlo. He opened the car door and threw me in. Three more men were in there. I knew what was about to happened. I tried getting out, but I was caught my one of the men. I was thrown into the back seat of the car. I looked at all of them. Where are the cops when you need them? Before anything could get too far, Dream’s words echoed in my mind: NEVER go down without a FIGHT. I might have been scared, but I was pissed too. Every move one of the men tried to make on me, I fought back. I guess they were tired of me, because they pinned me down. It didn’t stop me. I threw the biggest tantrum ever.

I know somebody notice because the car’s door opened, the men were pulled out, and all I heard was screaming and feet hit against the pavement. After a couple of seconds, I saw a hand and a man’s head pop inside the car. I took his hand and climbed out of the car. He looked familiar. Another man came up and stood beside him.

“Are you ok?” the first one asked.

“I’m good.”

“I know you’re confused. We work for Tony, Tre, and Ron. We see you around. You’re Dream’s lil sister. I was his best friend, Kendrick,” the second boy said.

I examined him. I looked him up and down. I then saw it in him. Man, Kendrick has grown up. He and my brother were tight. They got in trouble together and everything. I smile at him. I didn’t know he work for Tony, Trevan, and Ron. Small world.

“Wow, Kendrick. I ain’t seen you in a while. You grew up.”

“You have too. Man, when-I mean- if Dream sees you know….He’ll kill.” I half smiled at him. I caught his mistake. “Do you need a ride?” the first boy asked.

“If you don’t mind, I wanna go home.” They lead me to their car.

Kiona’s POV

I sat at the door, with my back against it. Tears poured out of my eyes. Tre was on the other side of the apartment, looking at me, with anger and sorrow in his eyes. Tears freely flowed down his face. My hands covered my face. I then stood up and walked to my room. I closed and locked the door. I walked into the bathroom. I looked at myself through the mirror. My face was red-Red from the tears and red from the getting struck in the jaw my Tre.
