Kendra's POV
He stared at me like he was some kind of fortune teller but this time he wasn't predicting my future, he was trying to find out my past. He had brown eyes locked onto my matching brown ones. I told him the truth because I didn't have nothing to lose and my life was already hell. I was broken and I knew that.
He looked around suspiciously and grabbed my hand. I widened my eyes as he dragged me towards his building.
"Just smile and wave and act like were business partners or something." He whispered to me and went behind my back to untie my apron with one hand. He untied it and layed it on his forearm and smiled at the People we passed. I followed beside him not having a choice.
We walked into his building that immediately showed a big desk where a receptionist was on the phone. Once she saw him and me come in she smiled and acted like she actually likes her job. He gave her a small smile and she almost dropped the phone. She was really surprised because he gave a little smile. Isn't that what bosses and co workers are supposed to do? Wow, I would certainly hate to work for him. I feel awful for his assistant.
I followed him as people straightened up and gave small hellos when we passed. I knew it wasn't me at all. I mean, I am nobody but I know the person next to me with his business face on was the one making these people doing this. I mean he is the boss, he owns this building, and he can destroy your career if you let him. He is very powerful and that made many people hide in the corners away from him and let him get his way but I think I honestly am the first person to do the opposite.
So why the hell am I still with him? He most likely is going to call the police and find a way to do it without the paparazzi and everyone knowing.
We walked out of the elevator onto the top level. I noticed a big glass window at the end of the hall. Taking a peek I almost gasped at how high we were up. I could die right now if he just shoved me hard enough through that glass. I forced the thought back as he stopped in front of big double doors. He typed in a passcode and then opened the door.
I noticed no one was on this level and there was only this big room we were about to walk into. There was a desk set up next to his office. It must be where his assistant works. I noticed the desk was empty at the moment though.
I heard Eric clear his throat and give me a stern look and I immediately stepped in with him closing the door behind me.
It was a huge room, most likely the size of the whole restaurant. It had a big Woden desk sat in the center of the room. The wooden wasn't old and prickly wood, it looked polished and very smooth if you ran your finger across it.
The room had a bunch of shelves where neatly ordered books were placed. There were some certificates hung around the room. One of the filing cabinets had a picture frame where a picture of him and a guy who looked equally as attractive as Eric next to him. The guy had his arm draped over his shoulder and flashed a grin at the camera. Eric had a similar grin with his arm also draped over his shoulder as well. They seemed close.
I heard him pull out a chair and looked back at him. He sits down in the seat behind the desk. This must be his office. It looked like it was as big as my apartment. No, even bigger. There was two chairs on the other side of the big desk facing him. He nodded his head towards them indicating for me to sit down. I did and looked around the room a little more.
On the other side of the room, it had a whole set up that looked like a living room. A flat screen was hung on the wall where a black leather chair was next to a white leather one. Next to the chairs was a black couch with matching white pillows. A glass coffee table was placed in front of it. Very fancy, I thought before I hear him clear his throat again making me turn to look at his stern look.
I felt like I was in the principle's office getting a lecture. He was in business mode and I knew it by the intimidating stare he had on his face.
"I am going to make a deal with you..." he paused and I gave him a confused look. Then I realized he wanted my name. I rolled my eyes and sighed. He still didn't remember my name after five minutes when I told him. I actually told him my name at the restaurant as well.
He smirked after a while and I gave him another confused look before he cleared my confusion, "I was getting back at you for the little name stunt you did in the restaurant, Kendra."
I bit my lip, "You noticed that?"
"Yes, I did indeed and I think you knew I did and you're just acting innocent again."
I gave him a fake, innocent, sweet smile which he rolled his eyes at. He looked back at me like me with that intence look, " Like I said before, I am going to make a deal with you Miss.Peterson."
I gave a short nod telling him to continue so he did, "You won't go to jail and you won't lose your job. I will even get you a better job at a better place if you'd like on two conditions."
"And what are those conditions?" I asked.
"Well, first is why you stole my money." He stated.
I raised my eyebrows in question, "What's the other?" I asked.
"Tell me why you stole the money first and then I will tell you." He replied making me almost groan in frustration.
I sighed and simply answered, "I needed the money for rent and bills I still have to pay."
He was silent as he looked at me before he nodded, "Keep the money because I don't need it really. If you do this next thing then I will get you a better job so you can get way more money."
I wanted to thank him and all but then I remembered Celeste staying there by herself left with Robin and Bill and a shitty pay check.
"What about Celeste?" I asked him.
"Who is that and what about her?"
"She's my co worker at the restaurant and I don't want to leave her at that shitty place alone." I explained.
He sighed and ran his hand through his hair which would usually make other girls go crazy and get horny as well.
"Okay, she and you will both get better jobs at the same place."
I gave him a small smile and nodded my head, "Then, what is it you want me to do?"
Before he could say anything his phone rang and he picked up with groan, "What?' he snapped at the poor person on the other side of the phone. Man, he is an asshole.
"Cancel my meeting. If they don't want to make the deal than fine. What I am dealing with right now is way more important." I heard him say to whoever he was talking to on the phone.
"Good, tell them I can reschedule for tomorrow at one in the afternoon. Okay, good." He said before hanging up. Not even a short little bye or thank-you?
"Now can you tell me because I am getting a little impatient here." I said and he gave me a small glare. I straighted up a little on instinct from the look he gave me.
He sighed again before answering, "I have a family dinner tonight. I need a date and not a trashy one. You are going to be my date."
