Kendra's POV

I stared out the window of Eric's car. We were driving down a highway so there wasn't much to look at besides dying trees. I thought back to my talk with Daniel before Eric walked in along with his family. I smiled at the night after that. His family was lovely and he acted the opposite than he did when we were in his office and he gave me that intense look. I had all of there numbers and promised Elena that we could go shopping or something sometime even though I knew it wouldn't happen and I might as well throw the numbers away because after tonight I wouldn't have anything to do with the Kinsley family.

I sighed leaning into the comfortable passenger seat bringing my thoughts back to Daniel Kinsley. I was shocked when he told me he already knew I wasn't really Eric's girlfriend. Then, I thought back to what I have heard about his past dates he brought. Did he think I was a whore? My inner bitch was released after he said it.

"What, do you think I am a whore or something because I am not." I said glaring at him as his eyes widened.

"No, No, Nothing like that. I don't think you are anything like the other girls. You are very beautiful and seem like you're an intelligent women. That's the part I am wondering, because of that I know you can't be his girlfriend. My brother doesn't attract women like that after he starts talking. He is an asshole, but has money so I am guessing you two have a deal of some sorts." He said with his eyebrows raised.

I sighed, "I sort of stole from him and he said he wouldn't call the cops if I did this and he would get me and my friend a better job." I told him truthfully.

He nodded in understanding, "You aren't exactly liking him very much though, I know my brother and he can be an asshole sometimes."I laughed and nodded my head in agreement.

"I'll tell you what Kendra. You could deal with my idiot brother or you could come work for me without being my fake girlfriend." He offered me and I smiled sweetly at him in return.

"Thanks, but I only have to do this tonight and then I won't have to deal with him anymore at all." I said and he fake pouted making me chuckle.

"That's too bad but I understand. Now, tell me about this awful job you and your friend have." He said and leaned back in his chair sipping his drink as we laughed when I told him about Robin, Bill, and Celeste in the last ten minutes until Eric came in.

"Kendra?" My thoughts came to an end with Eric trying to get my attention.

"Hmm?" I hummed and looked over at him as he sighed dramatically making me roll my eyes at him.

"I was trying to get your attention for a while now. Tell me where to go." He said harshly.

"Just turn right up here." I said and turned to look back out the window as we turned into the cheap worn down part of New York where I lived a few apartments down from Celeste deciding on ignoring him until we got there.

"Turn left and it's just up there." I say my last directions and he follows looking around as he stopped the car.

"This is where your apartment is?" He asked looking at me with a little bit of horror in his eyes making me laugh at him. He raised his eyebrows at me trying to figure out why I was laughing him.

"What's so amusing?" He asked glaring making me laugh harder.

"Not used to this type of area huh?" I asked as he rolled his eyes.

"Yeah, whatever just don't get killed on your way up." He said looking up at the old brick apartment building.

I gasped making him look back at me, "Is Eric Kinsley worried about little old me?"

He scoffed, "Goodbye, Miss. Peterson." He said as I opened the door and got out.

Before I left I bent down and looked back at him, "Goodnight, Mr. Kinsley." I shut the door and jugged to the doors leading to the building. I walked up the stairs to my apartment unlocking the door and walked in.

I shivered a little from how cold it is in the apartment. I pull my coat tighter around me, grabbing the small heater and wrapping myself up in my blanket. I turned the heater on, Kicked off my shoes and plopped down on the couch with the soft blanket. I sighed in content with the warmth of the blanket.

I felt warm enough soon and pulled my coat off, walked to my room, slipped off the dress I wore realizing it was the most expensive piece of clothing I had and it wasn't even that much according Eric Kinsley.

I plopped down on my squeaky bed looking up at the dirty ceiling. Tonight with the Kinsley family, I felt happy and apart of the family even if I wasn't Eric's real girlfriend at all and only met him a couple hours before. I didn't expect that from such a rich family. William and Laura Kinsley were amazing and the closest thing to parents I had for a while. I never spoke to my parents exspecially my mother, but I still get a letter every month which I eventually read, but I  haven't read the past two months letters that I just put away in the folder.

I know I don't read it for them, I read it for him even thought I am still trying so hard to forgetting about him, his picture from 4 months ago still was on my refrigerator among others like when I was actually around and he loved me. Well, at least I hope so but, now he doesn't even know me probably.

I sighed and dreamed about the day everything changed  for me and I became the broken girl I am today, only few years years ago. Only to me it wasn't a dream. To me, it was a nightmare.
