Kendra's POV

The car stopped in front of the building where the charity event was taking place no I was completely awestruck. The building was very extravagant on the outside with lights all around that dragged you to it. If it was this good on the outside, I can't even imagine how beautiful it will look inside.

My mouth was opened as I stared at the amazing sight from the passenger window. I was completely lost until Eric cleared his throat to get my attention. I shook my head to get back to reality.

"Are you coming?" He asks and I notice the valet was waiting for us. I nodded and got out of the car. I smiled at the guy who Eric gave the keys to.

Eric started walking towards the door and I quickly followed him trying not to trip. He stopped and put his elbow out and I knew he wanted me to hold on to it and I did. Then, we walked through the glass doors that a doorman opened for us.

I tried to keep my mouth closed as I looked around the beautiful building inside. There were chandeliers everywhere all over the ceiling and brown carpet. There was round tables decorated with white table clothes and name tags in cursive.

A bunch of wealthy people and well dressed people were smiling, shaking hands, and sipping wine. I was definitely out of place here.

I sighed and started walking again when Eric dragged me along to the table right in front of the stage. The curtains were hiding whatever was behind it.

There I saw written in cursive Eric Kingsley and Kendra Peterson. I never thought my name would ever be on the seat, reserved for me at a place like this.

I turned and was immediately hit with the flash of the camera. My arm was still hooked onto Eric. Eric untangled my arm gently and wrapped his arm around my waist.

He gently placed his hand on my waist and it shocked me a little on how gentle and new it was. I looked at him as he pulled me closer to his side. He smiled a charming smile at the cameras. It was all for show, but I know how to act too. I smiled a batted my eyelashes and tried to look like the sweatiest in love girl for the camera.

Eric looked down at me and I smiled lovingly up at him making sure the cameras got it and then turned my head straight again.

The flash was starting to blind me. I looked away for a second but it didn't help when I looked back. It just made it worse, but I tried to toughen up and smile happily.

  "Eric over here!"

  "Eric to the left!"

  "Eric who's the lovely lady?"

  "Straight ahead Eric!"

  "Give us a little kiss!"

  "To your right guys!"

I tried to ignore all the shouting and flashes. I was just hopeful for the end. It was tiring to smile and pose and turn every which way.

"Can we get a few questions over here Mr.Kinsley?"

I looked over at a girl in a blazer and a pants suit. She looked very professional. She smiled kindly and Eric walked towards her pulling me with him by placing his hand on my back and pushing me a little but it felt so comfortable for some reason. Like we do this all the time together.

This was all new to me and I didn't exactly know what to expect.  I stood next to Eric as the girl held a microphone. A big camera was set up right in front of us.

"Okay Mr.Kinsley, everyone wants to know, who is this lovely lady you have with you tonight?" She flashed a fake smile my way. Interviewers were really good actors.

I am an expert at fake smiles so I fake smiled back. Eric pulled me a little closer after she asked that question.

"This here is my beautiful girlfriend." He answered and looking down at me with so much love written on his face. Apparently rich assholes like him were good actors too.

I smiled up at him quickly before he looked back at the girl, "Wow well she is a beauty that's for sure. May I ask how long?"

I could tell she was used to this. He brings women all the time. Different women every time.

She held the microphone out to Eric while he answered her, "Almost three months now."

She looked shocked but tried to vibe it up with another smile, "Well can you give us a quick smooch?"  She asked and my eyes widened a little.

Eric chuckled and next thing I knew he kissed my red cheek, "That's all you're going to get for now." He said. With that he pulled me along with him as he walked away.

"Eric! Nice to see a familiar face." A guy said smiling at him. He as well was wearing a suit and his blue tie really brought his blue eyes and blonde hair. He was very attractive. Are they all?

"Paul how are you?" Eric asked letting go of me to hug him.

"Oh I'm great. Lindsey and I are getting married this summer."

"Ah yes I got the wedding invite." Eric responded.

"And who is this? You couldn't find a date for tonight so you hired someone's girlfriend?" He asks laughing.

"Well actually this is Kendra Peterson, my girlfriend. We have been dating for three months now." He responded and wrapped his arm around my waist again.

His eyes widened and then he smiled, "Well you are very beautiful Kendra. I am happy for you finally finding the right one. I would be lucky to have a dance with her tonight."

Eric nodded his head, "Thank you and I'm happy for you and Lindsey. I'll see you around Paul."

They shook hands and then he walked  away. I was starting to get nervous again. I know Eric is paying to dance with me in the auction, but it's still a little nerve wracking to stand in front of a bunch of rich men.

As we started back towards our seats I asked, "Do you care for the cancer cure?

He glanced down at me by hooked by his side, "It is mostly for just public display. Most of these people would never donate if it didn't give them good publicity for their company."

I looked up at Eric, "Are you one of them?"
He didn't look back at me and simply answered, "No."

We walked to our seats just as a guy walked onto the stage with a microphone. He was an older guy, but his suit was very appealing.

"Ladies and gentleman. Thank you all for coming to the charity event to raise money to help find a cure for cancer."

A loud applause came after and I quietly clapped along, "Now all of the ladies please line up on the stage behind the curtain."

That was when I got up from my seat and followed all the other women to the stage.
