Kat's P.O.V.
I sat along the side of the table, keeping it a back support as I colored my barbies in my new coloring book (got for my 7th birthday earlier) peacefully, enjoying the one few moment of not being terrorized by my older brother, Xavier (9), and his best friend, Tristan (8 1/2 as I loved to tease him about as he hated not being as old as my brother though they were in the same grade. Boys, never understand them!). I was always scared of them as they came up with new ways to pester, annoy, and torture me. I glance up making sure they weren't trying to sneak up on me or anything and see the coast is clear. Breathing a sigh of relieve I continue coloring Barbie and Ken at the ball.
I had just started to color Barbie's dress pink when I hear the door open and laughter flow into the room. I groan when I see the devils themselves walk in, their faces full of glee. I really didn't want to know what was in the small can that Tristan was holding. Seeing me they give each other "the look" and saunter over to where I was, before they came, happily coloring. I watch to see Xavier count to three before both boys come hurtling towards me leaping across the table onto the couch behind me, making sure to knock over the deck of cards sitting on top of the table, scattering everywhere. I groan inwardly knowing I'd be the one forced to pick those u. Trying to ignore the whispers behind me I concentrate more on my coloring, hoping maybe they'd leave me alone, I mean it was my birthday, maybe they'd give me grace for once..
But I knew better.
Immediately after their small argument over who had one I started hearing whispers and an evil chuckle from Xavier. I turn around to see both demons smiling evilly down on me. I raise my eyebrow, curious, only to receive an even bigger grin from Tristan and another chuckle from Xavier. I turn back around and quietly whimper in terror. I didn't like how evil they looked and didn't want to stay any longer remembering when they had put itching powder in my shampoo knowing full well I was going to ask Josiah (a boy I had a big crush on then) to swing with me. I was itching my head all day and Tristan had told him that I was coming down with "girl cooties" or in his words "something that if caught will make you puke for days until you die a horrible puking death" so basically lice/puking disease. This resulted in no more Josiah (I cried myself to sleep for a whole week!) and still an idiot brother and his obnoxious friend in my wake.
I was just folding my coloring book up and getting up onto my knees when I felt something slimy and gooey slide down the nape of my new purple dress. I immediately froze in terror, wanting to scream, but closing my eyes instead, keeping quiet. I slowly turn around and open my eyes to see both boy's eyes gleaming wickedly and I see the can Tristan's holding and realize what exactly he just put down my dress..
Worms.
"AAAHHHHHH!!!!!" I scream jumping up in terror as I did all that I could to a) ignore the idiots guffawing at me and b) get the disgusting worm out of my dress. I hopped up and down, I wiggled, scratched, spun, jiggled, and anything else you could think of, I did, only earning me more rowdy laughter from the two spawns of Satan himself.
I tried to ignore the sliminess sliding down my back that was threatening my stomach to empty the delicious blackberries I had stolen from the cheesecake my Mom was making me for dessert tonight, and instead focused and hoped that it would fall out fast as my stomach was becoming queasier and queasier by the moment.
After much exertion I felt the worm slide off my back and plop onto the carpet. I sigh in relief, glancing up to see the stupid boys were now howling with laughter at my misery.
"Aww is Kitty Kat afraid of a tiny little worm?" I hear Tristan cooe at me only causing my brother to laugh even harder at me. I couldn't help but glare as the familiar lump in my throat that I had grown so used to came back to me, once again.
