Chapter 7

He began "Addison, I am so sorry. I didn't want to hurt you. I didn't think you would be here tonight."

I replied "So you lied to me so you wouldn't have to tell me that you've been seeing Bianca?!" It came out sounding more angry and harsh then I expected it to be, but could you blame me?

"Addison" he let go of my hands and stepped back and ran his hands through his hair and grunted. "Dammit! I was trying to avoid this!"

I stepped back shocked by his demeanor. He stepped closer and cupped my face with his big soft hands. "Addison I'm sorry, I didn't mean to yell." I grabbed his forearms with my hands and looked down at the ground, "Its okay." He said "No, it's not. You don't deserve to be yelled at, ever."

"Derek, tell me what is going on."

He let out a long sigh. "It's her dad."

"Mr. Taye? What did he do?" He paused as if he was wondering if he should really tell me. He looked straight into my eyes and said "He's a dirty cop." I gasped and said "What?!" He stepped closer and said "Shhhh."

I was completely shocked, I just stood there staring at him. "I found out he is a dirty cop and I confronted him about it. He said he can ruin my career, which is true. He found out about something stupid that happened in high school. I ran with the wrong people, they broke into a store and blamed it on me and it looked like I did it because I had to alibi." He took a long breathe and continued.

"I don't know how he found out about it but if it ever came out I will lose my job, and I could possibly go to jail." I interjected and said "Oh my gosh. But what does that have to do with..."

"Bianca? Ugh, yeah. Taye knows Bianca likes me and I wouldn't give her the time of day. He told me I would ask her out and I would see her for as long as she was interested." I yelled "That rat! Derek, can't you do something?"

"Addison there's not much I can do. If I break up with Bianca, she tells daddy. He will tell your dad about what happened when I was in high school and..."

"So tell my dad he's dirty!"

"Addison he'll never believe me. Taye will just say that I'm saying that to try to cover up what I did even though I didn't do it! It's a lose lose situation. I don't see a way out of it. Your dad is going to believe him over me. Their pretty good friends."

I sighed and stepped closer to him and wrapped my arms around his neck. "We can talk to my dad together, we can..."

"No. I'm not going to risk losing my job and you." He looked me straight in the eyes, "I can't lose you."

"I can help you. Just let me try."

He ran a finger across my cheek and said "Okay. Just promise me I won't lose you."

I smiled and I replied "You won't."

He leaned his head down and kissed me. It was as amazing as it was the first time.
