Chapter 10

Addison panicked. The men kept closing in, they were about 20 feet away now. Lexie looked at her and yelled "Addison! Drive!" Addison threw the car in reverse and put the gas all the way to the floor. She knocked two of the guys out and the third one began shooting at the car.

Once she was near the end of the driveway she twisted the wheel hard to the left, changed gears to drive and took off. She saw the third guy run back to the car and the car began chasing after them.

Addison yelled "Lexie! Call my dad, now!" Lexie quickly grabbed Addison's cell out of the cup holder and dialed Mr. Montgomery's number and put it on speaker phone.

Just as Addison's dad answered one of the guys in the car started shooting at the car and the girls screamed.

Mr. Montgomery yelled "Addison! What the hell is going on?!"

"Daddy! There's an SUV chasing us, I think there's two guys in the car and their shooting at us!"

"Where the hell are you?!"

Addison yelled "Venture boulevard, almost to Parkway Calabasas!"

Her dad responded "Okay! Addi whatever you do don't get on the freeway. I want you to turn left on Parkway Calabasas then go past the civic center and make sure your speeding, there's always someone radaring there and they will follow you! I'm on my way, just stay on that road!"

Addison begun crying "O-okay. Daddy please hurry!"

"I'm on my way baby girl don't worry!"

Lexie hung up and said "This road won't go forever! What are we gonna do?" They were about 1000' from the civic center and she could see the patrol car sitting up ahead. Addison stepped on the gas pedal and was doing about 60 mph. She went speeding by with the SUV right behind her and she saw the patrol car pull out and she felt a little relieved.

She saw the patrol car turn on the lightbar and she heard the sirens, then her phone began to ring. Lexie picked it up and put it on speaker phone. "Dad?!" Addison shouted. "Addison! I'm on Parkway, I'm going to park right past the gas station on the left hand side and Derek is with.." Addison interrupted "Derek?! Is he okay?" Her dad responded "Ye-yes he's fine, he wanted to come help. I want you to make a hard right and pull in behind me, and were going to try to shoot the other cars tires out, okay?!" Addison sighed "Okay dad, please get them!"

Addison could see an SUV up ahead and she knew it was her dad, she waited til she was almost to them and slammed on the brakes and made a hard right and drove past the car, the SUV chasing her did the same. She heard gunfire and Lexie screamed. She looked in her rear view mirror and saw the SUV had stopped and about 10 more patrol cars showed up and everyone began surrounding the SUV.

Addison and Lexie got out of the car and they watched as they took the two men chasing them into custody and put them in the back of patrol cars. Addison sighed and leaned against the car and closed her eyes and ran her hands through her hair. She heard someone running towards her and she opened her eyes and it was her dad, he pulled her into his arms and said "Addi! Are you okay?" He pulled her away from her chest and cupped her face. Addison began crying "I'm o-o-okay." He pulled her into him again as she sobbed.

Lexie came around the side of the car where Addison and father were. When Mark saw her he pulled her into a hug too. The three of them stood there and hug each other for a few minutes. He had one of the girls on each side of him and they began walking to his SUV. He told Addison he would have one of the guys drive her car back to their house. They had to go to the police station to give their statements anyways.

Lexie and Addison crawled in the backseat and Mark in the front seat. Once they were all situated, the driver began heading for the police station. When they began to drive around that's when Addison remembered, Derek. She leaned over to Lexie and said "Did you see Derek?" Lexie looked like she suddenly remembered about him too and replied "No. But I'm sure he'll want to see you." Addison gave a half smile and rested her head on the window.
