I felt the needle pricking my skin, but I didn't feel pain. In fact, I felt happy. To have my new boyfriend, giving me a new tattoo, because of my breakup with my old boyfriend. The whole situation gave me the willies. I laughed, but covered it up immediately.
"Does it tickle that much?" Nick asked, shaking his head in unbelief.
"Not at all. I was just laughing because of you." I said as Nick looked up from his work.
"Is there something wrong with my face? Did I shave correctly? Does my cologne smell weird? No duh, it's AXE. I should've bought Playboy." Nick said with a smirk, like he was joking. I laughed and ran my hand through my hair to keep it out of my face. This was comfortable. It wasn't painful, or nerve-wracking, or embarrassing. Just... felt like a real home. "Sit still now, or I'll have to pin you down." Nick warned as I bit my lip.
"I wouldn't mind that..."
"Not unless you want to be sitting in an emergency room for hours on end you wouldn't. I'll be done in a sec, just sit tight. Then maybe we could go out for smoothies." Nick said, his eyes glittering in excitement.
"Java Hut?"
"You know the good stuff," Nick said dipping his needle in a small capsule of black ink. "My treat."
"Thanks, I appreciate that. I needed to get away from my pot headed parents..." I sighed, leaning back in my seat.
"Hippies? There's a lot of them on campus, so I'm used to it."
"My parents are like hippies, but not really. They just smoke a lot of weed and like to have sex.... Which, now that I think about it, kinda makes them hippies." I shrugged. Nick laughed low and deep before wiping away the excess ink and rolling back in his chair.
"There, you're done. How do you like it?" He asked as I looked down at my forearm and gasped. It was a small fairy that as curled up around a small orb of light, which had love written in with white ink. It was like the fairy was apart of me, whatever that meant. I couldn't help but smile.
"Oh my god Nick, this looks and feels so much better than seeing it on paper! I love it!" I said wrapping my arms around Nick and kissing him.
"Hold on now, you're still wet and you're going to get ink on me!"
"It's fine! C'mon, I want to show Andy and them!" I said pulling Nick out of the door and raising my hand up to Andy. He slipped up his sunglasses and loomed over me with a broad expression.
"Impressive. I think he could take me over pretty soon." Andy praised as Nick's ears went red.
"N-no way man..." he said humbly. I grinned and intertwined my hands with Nick's, which brought him back to reality.
"We're going to Java Hut. Do you want anything?" I asked as Andy shook his head and went back to stocking.
"Have fun, but not too much fun." Andy warned, shooting a quick glare to Nick.
"Alright, dad." I muttered leaving Purple Ink.
"Are you thinking about what college you're going to go to?" Nick asked as I froze from shoving another curly fry into my mouth.
"You know, I would say something, but I know better," I frowned as Nick raised an eyebrow and gave me a serious look. I sighed and set down my curly fry. "Honestly, I have no idea. I was thinking of following Ash and try to apply to UCLA, but now that you're here and apart of my life... I want to be with you." I said touching Nick's arm softly. I squeezed it, wanting him to notice that I was serious too. He stared at me with his pale, blue eyes as they bored into me like silver bullets.
"I'd love it if you did. I really would." Nick said as he kissed my forehead.
"Xavier said I could work upstairs in the pawn shop since I was too young for the bar and I have absolutely no talent with art. When I'm in my senior year, I'll start working." I said as I pressed my nose against Nick's.
Just then, out of the corner of my eye, I saw a familiar face. I glanced over and my heart stopped. It was Jay. With another girl. She had bright blond hair and big blue eyes with eye shadow and mascara and all that kind of junk. She wore a short dress that was tight against her spray tanned skin. I stuck out my tongue and rolled my eyes.
Slut.
"Lets go. I want to take a drive." I said linking arms with Nick as we walked out of Java Hut. I took a quick glance back at Jay and frowned. Why do I feel so... irritated?
