A little warning: this chapter might have a little PG 13 at the end.
The night was finally here and Arnav had messaged me that he would be arriving in fifteen minutes.
I had wore a green kurti with a white leggings. I was dressed up in casual. I didn't want the dinner to be fancy. We wanted it to be homely so my parents were also wearing casual. Maa in a plain pink saree with golden border while papa, a blue shirt and black pants.
My parents and I, were sitting in the living room on the couches. The Tv was playing but no one was paying any attention to it.
I could see that my parents were more eager to meet him. The last time they met was seven years ago.
With excitement, I could sense some worry in them too. All parents are worried about their children.
"What is it Mamma and Papa?" I asked.
"What?" Papa tried to brush it off.
"I know you are both eager but I can see you are worried too. Why?"
Papa took a deep breath but he didn't say anything.
"Seven years is a long time, anything can happen. We are just worried what if he has changed." Maa explained.
"You mean, Arnav?" I sighed "Mamma and papa, he has not changed except for being a little more tall. He is the same Arnav I knew, maybe better. You remember what he said about our marriage, right?" I assured them with a smile.
"We know beta but we are your parents. It's in our blood to be worried." Papa smiled back.
"I love you both."
"We love you too." Mamma and Papa said at the same time.
After a while, the door bell rang. I stood up and went to open it.
There he stood with all his dashing glory. The white apron that signified his job and sense of respect. He had directly come from hospital.
But still, I couldn't miss the smile that enchanted his face. The smile meant only for me.
"Hey" He greeted and took my hand in his right hand. He was holding a bag in his other hand.
"Hey" I smiled back and gave a squeeze to his hand.
"I am sorry, I just came directly from the hospital so I am a mess." He frowned. He was wearing a black formal shirt underneath his apron and blue jeans.
"You are perfect." I know I was acting like a star struck person. But he was the only moon of my dark night.
"Back to being cheesy, miss?" He raised his eyebrow while smirking.
"Always" I laughed and stepped back to give him the way."Come in. My parents are waiting for you."
"Lead the way, my lady." My prince charming said while removing his apron. I took the apron from him to place it somewhere safe.
I lead him to the living room where Papa and Mamma were still sitting. But they stood up as soon as they saw Arnav entering.
Arnav went and touched both of their feet.
"Aunty, I brought these sweets for you." He handed it to my mother.
"You didn't have to do all this formalities beta. This is your home too and call me maa." Mamma hugged him.
"Tha-thank you ma-maa." There was small tear just waiting to escape his eyes.
I could recognise the look he was giving to mamma. He was trying to see his own mother in Mamma's face. Maybe, his wait is over now.
