Thank you so much for such motivating comments in the previous note. I cannot express what this support means to me :)I will reply back asap. As promised, here is the next chapter.
The rest of the week went by smoothly and without any unexpected surprise. Karan was behaving as a civilized person or I should say, like a professional. The touch of friendship between Karan and I got lost somewhere. I had made new friends. Some of them were interns and some were nurses. Senior doctors were really good and cooperative.
I spent most of my free time with Priyanka while I was in the hospital. Priyanka was kind of glad that Karan was not giving me importance like he did on the first day. She never told it directly but it was visible. I didn't mind it or saw her in a negative light. She was clearly in love. I didn't know how intense her love was or whether they both were compatible with each other. But I knew that Priyanka was a good girl and she deserves happiness.
I had once watched a Chinese drama where one character tells the female lead that "When you give up a tree that does not belong to you, you will discover an entire forest waiting for you." I guess Karan needed to open his eyes. Love is something that can never be forced. I hope they find their destinies.
It was almost seven pm of Saturday. We, interns, were usually allowed to leave at eight pm. Arnav was going to pick me up today. For the last two-three days, it was Papa who picked me up. Aranv was busy with the hospital. He had to prepare for some seminars. I was feeling bad for them to pick me up every day. I asked my parents to allow me to drive the scooter but they denied. They said it was not safe to travel in the scooter at night through the highway. Arnav supported them. He was more strict than my parents. He told me if I dare to sneak with the scooter then I will never be able to complete my internship. He can be scary sometimes.
Fortunately, I could complete my work early and got time to search a book in the library. I issued the book and was reading it in the canteen. A tap on my table made me look up. I was surprised to see Karan.
"Yes?" I asked hesitantly.
"Can I talk to you for a second?" He was nervous.
"Sure" There was no harm in it.
He took a seat opposite to me. He folded his hands on the table. His fingers were fidgeting. He sat like that for five minutes. The silence was awkward. I didn't know whether I should say something or not.
"I- I am sorry for behaving rudely to you." He apologized.
"It's okay... It's in the past." I didn't want anyone to feel the burden of something that was out of their control.
"Thank you" He sighed.
I gave a small hesitant smile in reply.
"I also wanted to tell you that I like you," Karan confessed. My eyes turned wide like saucers in shock. I never expected him to confess. It was hard to hear directly from him.
"I- Karan-" I stuttered.
He raised his palm to stop me from speaking further.
"I know that you cannot accept my feelings. I also know that you love him a lot and you don't have any place in your heart for someone else. I just wanted to confess because I don't want to suffocate anymore. I don't know when I will get over with my feelings but I don't want to lose your friendship." Karan gave a small sad yet hopeful smile.
"Thank you, Karan, for giving me such an importance in your life. I don't know what to say. But I know for the fact that I don't want to lose a friend too." I assured him with a genuine smile.
