CHAPTER 3
BONDING
ANA POV
Ax was giving Zak one last lecture as we waited for Anvil to finish loading up my eight bags of luggage. I rolled my eyes but said nothing as he continued.
"If anything happens to her I will find you. Don't let any Supes near her, I mean it." Zak broke at those last words and leaned forward so he and Ax were eye to eye.
"I gave you leniency because I know this has been hard on you but don't forget who you're talking to. I gave you my word that I would take care of her and I never break my word. Therefore, I would suggest you become silent and tell your sister goodbye before I get angry." Glaring at him Ax shut up and hugged me goodbye as Anvil came in announcing our ride was good to go. I hugged him goodbye having already said goodbye to the girls. I felt Ashton brush through my mind and wish me luck as I shut the door to my home. Afraid I would never see it again I paused to run my hand down the door. Then giving Zak a saucy grin I walked toward the car. Brushing against Ashton's mind I told her I loved her. Zak halted and I turned to face him.
"You can mind-speak?" Knowing he meant me talking to Ashton I nodded and brushed into his mind.
"Of course. I've been able to do that as long as I can remember. As soon as I realized Ashton could hear me I showed her how I did it. Then when Avon came along we showed her as well. But we never showed the boys. We didn't want them plotting on us. Now come on we have an adventure to start." Then I smiled at him and got in the car, shutting the door behind me. Zak walked around the car to the driver side as I ran my hand along the dash of the car. As he got in I looked over at him.
"You know what the Sidhe were once called?" He looked at me with those silver eyes and I blinked then grinned slowly. "Fairy folk. I can see why you changed it. I mean who wants to be called a fairy. So you generalized it and made it so all the different kind of fairy were called Sidhe, smart move." I thought he was going to growl at me but he surprised me with a deep rich laugh. I grinned as he started the car and we were off.
............
Two hours later I discovered we had a lot in common and that made me nervous. My boyfriends had never lasted more than a couple of months no matter how much I cared about them and that went for friends too. I'd tried to keep at it but it damaged me, broke something inside. I glanced over at Zak as I decided what to do. I had to scare him off from this soul-mate shit but how? I grinned as a plan formed. I'd start with play number five it always worked on my brothers. He glanced over at me as if he sensed what I was up to but I placed a wall around my mind so he couldn't see in. His face became a mask so I couldn't read his expression as he turned back to the road.
Tilting the chair back I propped my feet on the dash and pulled a blanket over me from the back. His eyes went from my feet back to my face. The mask slipped as he scowled at me but he didn't say anything, damn. If my brother had a 2010 Chevrolet Camero SS he'd have had a shit fit if I'd put my feet on the dash. Smiling non-chalantly I closed my eyes and snuggled into the blanket. This was going to be so much fun.
I awoke to the sound of rain hitting the car and it soothed me. I also realized the car had stopped and Zak was staring intently at me. Yawning I stretched and sat up.
