CHAPTER 9
COMING INTO YOUR POWERS
ANA POV
A YEAR LATER
"Ms. Ana." I stopped and turned so see a young wolf standing behind me. I raised a brow and he straightened.
"Yes Rork?" Working as a gym teacher for Zeta's school for Supes and humans was the best idea I'd ever had. I missed Zak but I'd needed this. Cesila, a human physic, had been helping me with my Sidhe powers and I had them down pat. It was my Banshee powers that I had no clue about because I needed Zak. I looked down as Rork continued speaking.
"Do you think Avon will go to the movies with me?" I smiled.
"You should ask her but I don't have any problems with it." Rork grinned and strode off Cesila, or Cesi as I called her, walked up and clapped me on the back. Smiling I turned to look at her as I waved the guards off. They grunted but stepped back. Putting my arms around her I led her into the gym so we could talk privately since I had no classes till after lunch.
Her brown eyes were amused as the guards followed us in but stayed at the doors as we crossed to the benches on their other side of the gym. Ever since Cesi had dealt with an errant ghost at the school they'd seemed wary of her. I'd yet to get an answer of why but Cesi seemed to know. She smiled that rare smile of hers then spoke as she tied her dyed red hair into a ponytail. It had been brown yesterday but Cesi loved to dye her hair strange colors like fire engine red for instant.
"So I was meditating yesterday and it came to me what one of your banshee powers might be. Didn't you say the vines flourished shortly after you came to the castle?" I raised a brow but nodded at her to continue, unsure of where she was going with this.
"Maybe you give things the will to live." I bet back a laugh and avoided her question.
"So can I read your book yet?" She blushed and glanced at her bag sitting beside me warily. Smiling I rifled through it and pulled it out. Luckily we'd become good enough friends that I knew I wouldn't get my ass chewed out for digging through her bag. Flipping it open I spoke aloud as I read.
"Luke's eyes met mine and I felt the agony in them. His hand caressed my cheek but I knew he could never be mine. For my Luke was dead and would stay that way because of me." I glanced up at Cesi to see she'd grown pale. Scoffing I handed her the book.
"Cesi, there is no way I can bring things to life much less a character from a book. He's not here because he's not real and I have no power over things coming to life." Cesi blinked and clutched the book tighter to her chest.
"You better hope so because if he comes back I don't know if I could take it. I mean, let's just practice okay." She wiped her eyes as she put the book back in her bag. Realizing I'd hurt her feeling I grabbed her shoulders and pulled her to me for a hug.
"I'm sorry Cesi I didn't mean to hurt your feelings. You're my friend and I'd never purposely hurt you." She pulled back and punched me in the arm as she rolled her eyes.
