XI. A fish's tail

fish's tail --

porculpa porculpa

mea culpa and recover; gilded green word

and this fish's paws

glistening and clawing

at that Other world.

God breaks my heart and you break my heart with that smile on your face and by God, my God -- i am away and you are far away from me --

and your life is a better flesh than mine is, the weight of me is like a quietus

in his bones.

my fish's tail, no earthly toes

to plant her still; so floundering

she pounces on the air

(and i still believe i broke [her] down.)

"sometimes i wish you would hit me, scold me, tell me how bad i am -- how much i deserve the shame."
