She crosses her heart and hopes to die,
And you know she means it, she won't survive,
Inside she's carved out, hollow,
In pity she loathes and wallows,
No longer a smiling girl with a heart of gold,
But a broken one, so sad and cold,
She wished to be beautiful you see,
But it was something she would never be,
For she knew she was marked from the voices inside,
The ones from which she tried to hide,
But they came out clawing when she glanced in the mirror,
For she knew there were too many within her,
To ignore and push away,
So she had no choice but to let them stay,
They made fun and beat her down,
Inside with a crippling frown,
She hid behind her empty smile,
There was nothing there, hadn't been for a while,
She was enveloped in sadness and pain,
So she'd cut again and again,
Each and every day,
In hope that the angels would take her away
