Jeremy's P.O.V

Ember was a McKinnon. It was so awesomely strange that I didn't know what to make of it.

The limousine took us to Emberlight Hill. It was where the reception was being held, in a bar at the bottom where Silverdusk and Emberlight split.

I got out of the car and swiftly went round the back to open Ember's door and scooped her out, carrying her through the gates where we'd first saw each other.

We weren't friends then. In fact, I was scared of her, because of what my parents were saying about Kellin's 'demonic traits'. I was at Emberlight for the first time. We'd gone there to play and hang around for a while, as Josh had suggested it. I was there playing casually, when I saw her with Kellin and their mother. I'd never found it in me to look at her, so I never knew what she really looked like. Their mother asked if we were her friends, and she started crying. So I went over to her when my friends werent looking at me, and started to wipe away her tears.

"I'll be your friend," I'd said to to her, "If you prove to me that you'll be a good one."

And thus, she'd made her stand to that bully in the playground. I'd become her best friend, and the others eventually warmed to her.

I carried her up, then set her down as we reached the top and were a few steps away from Kevin's grave. She looked over at it and a minuscule smile formed on her lips as she cast her gaze on the oak tree and our blessed friend's grave.

"Come on," I said, taking her hand. "Let's go."

After the speeches and all of that ritual, Ember and I were to have our first dance as spouses.

I flushed. She looked so beautiful in that gorgeous blue dress that sparkled under the serene lights.

I took her hands and began dancing with her to the lovely, calming music. The world faded around me and it felt like it was just the two of us, locked in our own world.

Until she stopped and a thin wail escaped her.

I stopped, the world around me flooding back in. "What's wrong, Ember?"

"My...waters have just...broke."

I panicked as she fell to the floor. I knelt down next to her.

"Call an ambulance! The baby's coming." I snapped at Josh. He nodded and started ramming the number into his phone.

"It's going to be okay, gorgeous. It'll be alright. Just think about how beautiful our baby will be." I told her. She managed a weak smile and she tried to calm more. I sat and caressed her hair and face until I heard sirens in the distance.

"We have to get her up the back up the hill at least. Zack, help me carry her." I breathed.

Zack and I tried to lie her down as straight a possible in our arms so she wouldn't have as much pain. We managed to hoist her up the hill, pretty much. The medics rushed up to meet us with a stretcher and we took her to the ambulance.

"There's only room for one more." the paramedic informed us.

Zack pushed me forward. "Quick, get in. I'll follow."

I shot him a grateful look before jumping in after Ember. They put an oxygen mask on her, and it steadied her breathing through her contractions.

It took 10 minutes to get to the hospital. However, every second felt stretched. Stress, fear and excitement gnawed at me. I hoped she'd have a healthy birth. And how classy was it for this to happen our wedding day? Fun.

Once she was in, she managed to utter that she wanted a C-section. The midwives obliged and wheeled her along. I knew this would cost us money, but we had more than enough, me being famous and all.

Someone handed me a face mask and a blue protector jacket and I slipped them on.

"Jeremy...it hurts..." Ember whispered.

"I know, beautiful. But it will be over soon, I promise."

What a great promise that was. It took two hours for the operation to end. I was completely exhausted by the time it was done, and I wasn't the one who had gone into labor.

"It's all over, Ember." Zack whispered to Ember. He'd joined about five minutes in. I felt his words had a deeper meaning that what was actually going on. I knew that he meant that everything he felt for her was over, and that everything had finally finished.

"I can hear it..." Ember panted, stretching up and trying to see. The midwife brought our child over.

"It's a gorgeous baby boy." She announced happily.

I gasped in awe, tearing up as I stared down at my son. He really was gorgeous.

Ember was crying in happiness. "What do you...think we should call him?"

"You should decide, darling."

Ember paused for a second, then smiled brighter than she had in a long time. "Then...I welcome the new Kevin Zachary McKinnon to this world."
