Jeremy's P.O.V

When the party was over and my band had finished playing, I began to search for Ember. She'd said she'd be at Silverdusk, so that's where I went.

I looked around the hill and at the edge of the forest near Emberlight, but I couldn't find her. I presumed she'd gone back to the party to say her goodbyes.

I started saying goodbyes too at the same time as looking for her. I started to feel a little on edge when I still couldn't find her.

"Hey, Gaskarth, have you seen Ember?"

"no. Sorry, man."

"It's cool."

That was just one of many similar conversations I had.

I eventually couldn't find her, so I texted her and she told me she was at home for her final night in her house before she sold it. I sighed with relief as soon as I saw it. At least she was alright.

When I got home, I immediately got changed and went to bed. I was battered. It was an awesome night, though, and I'd be thanking Ember forever.

The bed felt cold and empty without her to cuddle me. I told myself to make the most of a bed to myself, and stretched out greedily before falling happily into sleep.

Ember's P.O.V

Tick. Tock. Tick. Tock.

I snapped my head up at this noise, trying to take in my surroundings. I saw nothing but emptiness, and when I looked up, I saw blinding lights.

Tick. Tock.

My body throbbed with pain. I tried to move, but not only did it inject more pain into my limbs, but also I was strapped to a chair like I was in a Saw Movie.

Tick. Tock.

Almost the entire left side of my body was covered in stab wounds and the flesh under my right eye felt like it was melting.

Tick. Tock. Tick. Tock. Tick. Tock.

I couldnt take this. I screamed out, but my cry just echoed, fragile amongst the darkness, like the shadows were mocking my pain.

Tick. Tock.

I tried to struggle free but I was blinded and someone muffled my pleas for help.

I was wounded once more. And then...

Tick. Tock. Tick...

Jeremy's P.O.V

I awoke to the sound of birdsong and the strain of light pouring through my window. I stretched and got up, turning to look at Ember, then remembering she wasn't there.

I decided to get ready and take her out for breakfast as a small thanks for the previous night.

Upon arriving at her house and knocking, the only answer I received was silence.

"Ember, baby, it's me! Open up!"

I knocked again, but still nothing. I went round to the back gate. She always kept her back door open.

The place was trashed. Her belongings were scattered everywhere and everything was broken. I found a note on the side.

'I've taken Ember captive. If you care enough to save her life I'm in the abandoned warehouse in Emberlight Woods. You have until tonight, or her blood will be on your hands.'

A smear of blood was left at the bottom like a signature. I almost choked on my fear.

"I just pray it didn't mean last night," I growled to myself. I had to save her, now...

I recoiled my hand in pain at knocking on the splintered door. Why would anyone just leave this place and all its potentially dangerous belongings behind? It was way too dangerous. Well, at least they had condemned it, even though they'd obviously done a crappy job.

It was night time now, as I had waited. It would be better.

The door whipped open on it's own and I flinched back in surprise. After the initial shock had faded, I walked in.

At first, I couldn't see due to the relentless darkness and shadows. My eyes adjusted to this black, though, and I felt my way along.

At the end of the room was a towering rusted iron door which was slightly open. I could hear pitiful, pain induced crying.

I entered the room immediately, without any forethought to brace myself at what I was about to see, and I almost threw up at what I did see.

A person was strapped onto a chair with thick, binding rope that was placed in the middle of what looked like a large version of a gas chamber. Small yet strong lights poured down over her figure, setting her apart from the rest of the giant shadowed room. She was bloodied and beaten, with countless stab wounds on one side of her body and flesh torn from her beautiful face. Her thick, once vibrant red hair was drawn over the other half of her face as she hunched over, silent and still. She just sat there, staring at nothing.

Upon my entrance, she looked up and saw me, her eyes bleak and lost, without the same autumn shine they once held.

She said something; what I thought was my name, but came out distorted.

"Ember...oh god..." I ran to her and tried to unbind her, but more lights rose up and obscured my vision.

"Well, well, well, looks like Jeremy came after all."

I turned to look at where the voice came from, and saw him.

"You." I growled.

He laughed. "Yes, me. Why, you don't seem so welcoming to see me again, Jeremy. It almost looks like you wish you hadn't seen me at all." He purred menacingly.

"Why would you do this to your own sister?"
