15. Brutal Accident

I wake up to a piercing pain from my right side and loud screech filling the air. I open my eyes to look around, our vehicle is upside down and thick smoke is filling the air. I look to my left and see KC hanging by his seatbelt, he's definitely going to feel this later.. I unbuckle myself then slowly move towards him and try to wake him up. I shake him yelling his name and he stirs. I see his eyes twitch.
"KC, please, wake up," I cry out, begging. "Please, I need you." I look at him and lift my right arm to touch his face and feel a sharp pain piercing into my abdomen. I cry out in pain. Kyles eyes shoot open and he looks around confused.
"Carly, I'm so sorry. I didn't mean to  wreck. But there was this guy- he was trying to run me off the road," he looks around sheepishly. "I guess he succeeded.."
I move towards him reaching for his buckle, "It's okay. Let's go, we have to hurry." He places his arms above his head to catch himself as I unsnap him.
We crawl through his window and he helps me into a standing position. I limp away and see red lights flashing and hear a loud siren approaching.
"Help," I yell. "Over here, we're over here!" I wobble towards the edge of the road. KC walks up behind me and places my arm over his shoulder. The ambulance service stops and he helps me into the back of the vehicle. Kyle hesitates and slowly climbs in behind me. I watch him as he slowly stumbles to the bench. He lets out a frustrated sigh.
"What's wrong?" I ask. He shakes his head and refuses to make eye contact with me. The paramedic climbs in and closes the door behind herself. "Can't say I didn't try," I mutter and turn away from him, laying down on the cot.
"Hello," a cheery voice fills the back of the emergency apparatus. "My name is Sandy, and I am assigned to help you two today."
"I'm Carly," I start, trying to sit up. I feel pain shoot through me. Kyle jumps as I whimper in pain, he looks at me with concern filled eyes. I finally give up and just back down. "This is Kyle, or you can call him KC."
She smiles, showing off her straight white teeth. "What a cute couple you are, I can tell you two really care about each-"
"He is not my boyfriend," I grit my teeth. They both seem to notice and she seems taken aback by my answer. "Honestly, Sandy, we just meet a few hours ago."
"Love at first sight," She states, and mockingly smiles at me. I let it a snort.
"Yeah, right." I mumble crossing my arms and squinting my eyes at her.
Try me, bitch. You don't know a damn thing about me. I have attitude that could last weeks.
She winks and me and let's out a chuckle.
Ah shit, she's asking for it. Well two can play this game.
