The car ride was silent, I watch as the rapid raindrops splashes onto the windows. The city lights blurred and I closed my eyes, listening to the rhythm of the raindrops as I try to drown out the presence of the deranged man sitting next to me.

The incident at the club was nowhere near as alarming as it should've been. He was merciful tonight to let me walk away with only a few bruises. I scoffed at myself, realizing that this is the kind of life I've become accustomed to.

My body sways and shifts as he zooms past the other cars in his purple Lamborghini, darting left and right between the traffic flow, earning multiple honks from others. All of a sudden, the engines roared louder as I felt the race car speed up. "Ohh, we've got company..." he states, unable to conceal his own excitement as he spots the Batmobile through the rear mirror.

There's a certain spark in his eyes that can only be ignited by the thrill of life and death situations. I clung onto the seats while he brings his foot down even harder on the gas pedal. The deafening roar of the engines still not enough to drown his laughter.

Amidst the rainfall and chaos, I catch sight of a blind elderly woman staggering across the intersection as she swings around her probing stick, completely unaware of the fact that her life is jeopardized in that moment.

"J... J!" I raise my voice in attempt to gain the Joker's attention, almost begging. My eyes staring straight ahead at the helpless form of the elderly woman. "J, slow down. Watch out!"

He turned to face me with a wild grin, overcome by a feeling of exhilaration. I promptly shut my eyes, fearing what may happen in the next few seconds.

In those moments, I felt the terror of true despair as the car seemed to approach her at the speed of lightning. Tears formed in my eyes as I mourned the death of yet another innocent life.

A sharp dash throws my body off balance and in the split second before we made contact, the car jerks away, just barely missing the woman.

I let a deep sigh of relief escape my lips as the Joker continues to laugh uncontrollably, too consumed by the thrill of the chase.

He is the manifestation of madness.
