30. If You Must

I woke up the next day to a knock on my door. I had just fed Eric so I knew it wasn't the nurse because Eric was asleep in the plastic crib beside me. I opened my eyes and saw Courtney and Kurt walk in. I sat up as they came over. Dave was at home sleeping after staying here all night, holding Eric and not sleeping.

"Hey bitch. Kurt finally felt better so we decided to come see you and the little guy," Courtney said as she walked over to the bed. We hugged birefly as Kurt walked over to Eric.

"I'm glad you finally came," I replied quietly. Kurt looked up at me and knew I was hurt from the look on ym face.

"I'm really sorry I didn't come yesterday Britt. I was in bed puking up blood all day," Kurt said as he came over and sat on the bed beside me. He put a hand on my knee and gently squeezed it. I smiled softly at him. It was hard to stay mad at him but it still kinda hurt.

"It's ok. I get it. I'm just glad you came finally," I replied as Courtney picked up Eric.

"He's so cute and tiny. I can't wait for Frances to get here," Courtney said as she looked down at Eric.

"Where's Dave?" Kurt asked.

"Sleeping at home. He might be back soon," I replied as I looked at the clock and saw it was past noon.

"Well we can stay until he gets here," Courtney said as Kurt stood up. Courtney handed him the baby as Dave walked into the room.

"Hey you guys finally came," Dave said as he walked over and put something down ont he table beside me.

"Ya I was feeling better. Congratulations you guys. He's adorable," Kurt said as Courtney and Dave hugged.

"Ya congrats guys. He's so cute and tiny," Courtney added as Dave hugged Kurt with one arm before kissing Eric on the top of his head.

"Thanks guys. Can't wait for your little one to come," Dave replied as he sat beside me on the bed.

Kurt was looking down at Eric as he sat down in the chair. Dave, Courtney and I talked about stuff while Kurt talked quietly to Eric. I listened as best as I could but I was watching Kurt. He was going to be an amazing dad.

"Well I gotta go. I'm going to go write with Eric. Kurt you coming?" Courtney asked as she stood up.

"I think I'll stay for a bit. I wanna spend some time with Britt. I love you," Kurt said as Courtney walked over to him and kissed him.

"Love you too. See ya guys," Courtney said as she left the room.

"What did you bring me?" I asked as I looked up at Dave before looking at the bag he put on the table beside me.

"It's stupid. Don't worry about it," Dave replied. I reached voer and grabbed the bag and looked inside.

Oh my god chocolate is not stupid. Chocolate is gods gift to women," I replied as I took a piece out and ate it.

"You guys are gonna be great parents," Kurt said as he looked at us.

"I hope so. You'll be a good dad to that little girl you got coming soon," I replied as I ate another piece of chocolate or four.

"Slow down on those. Kurt you're gonna be an amazing dad. You just need to get your act together," Dave added.

"You both do. You guys gotta get clean man. It's gonna destroy your family. I know how much you want a family Kurt," I added.

"I know guys. I'm trying. Courtney's been good since she found out she was pregnant. It helps with my stomach though," Kurt said as he looked back down at Eric. He stood up and walked over to the other side of my bed.
