The Emotionless Town

A bird was flying dangerously low  in the sky to stay below the toxic smoke clouds that coloured the sky grey, but it's usual path had been altered by all the homeless people who had pitched their tents in the alley way. As it flied it bumped into one of the tents and fell to the ground, hurting it's wing.

"You little shit" mumbled the blue eyed boy who had been asleep in the makeshift tent that had now collapsed over him. He sighed and all emotion slipped off his face, he then began convincing his aching body to stand up. He slowly persuaded his dying lungs to take in a breath of air. A strong gush of wind blew the smoke from the numerous chimneys above into his face and he erupted into a coughing fit. The wind continued to blow and the smoke moved further up the alley way until all around him were poeple hacking their lungs out.

The  boy slowly got up and began walking through the same streets he walked through everyday with the same poeple around him but they never spoke because they all knew it was best this way, everyone kept to themselves and never interfered with anyone else's business.

"Get your bread! Get your warm loaf of bread fresh out of the oven!" shouted a little girl as she waved around a load of bread desperately trying to sell it. The blue eyed boy stopped to buy some bread from a little girl with the few pennys he found in his pocket and he quietly went on his way, nibbling on his loaf of bread as he walked.

He stared down at the ground as he walked, he knew the path so well that he didn't even have to look up to see where he was going. He slowly began to get tired and his breath began to run out but he couldn't stop or he'd be late for work, late for work meant he wouldn't be payed and he didn't want to go hungry again. Up ahead he heard someone shouting but he couldn't make out the words, so he kept walking. As he got closer he began to understand what the voice was shouting, it was a woman shouting, no begging for help. For someone to save her partner who had collapsed on the floor. Her words broke his heart, he remembered when he was in her position, begging someone to help him save the love of his life as his heart was failing, that day he lost the light of his life, the green that completed his blue. He was snapped out of his thoughts by the woman clutching his leg and begging for help. The blue eyed boy felt disgusted by these words, how dare the woman ask for help when she knows it was wrong, no one here deserves love. Everyone here was born to die and in the world they lived in, it was bound to happen soon.

He pulled his leg out of the woman's grasp and just like everyone else did, he walked pass her without a second glance. He had left his thoughts of the woman behind and the boys mind became free to wander and his thoughts came back to his lack of breath. He slowly came to a halt and tried to breath in but he was running out of oxygen and his world began to spin. He fell to his knees and his heavy breaths and the sound of him frantically scratching at the ground were audible throughout the street as people passed by him, without a second glance. With no oxygen being supplied to him he did what he would eventually do, he fell to the ground as his body fought to get some oxygen into it but with no avail. He slowly faded into the the eternal resting place for all, the eternal darkness.
