I immediately drew my Imperial gold sword. I was ready to fight but the boys... Weren't doing anything. They were staring at the empousa and smiling like idiots.
"Snap out of it!" I growled. "The empousa just distracts you!"
The empousa hissed, which must've been it's way of laughing. "Oh Hazel. Your all alone. Your companions are under my spell."
I shot a murderous glare at the hideous monster. "You wish."
Then a second empousa emerged. Great. That's what I needed.
On went towards the boys, making her voice soothing as they fought over her. I don't know what they saw, but to me she looked strange with her mismatched legs clanking against the pavement.
At that moment I shoved Leo into Nico, making them come out of their trance. The first empousa launched itself at me, talons ready to rip my flesh. I hit her down with the hilt of my sword. While she was trying to recover, Leo and Nico got up, realizing what they were up against.
Leo summoned a hammer from his belt and Nico drew his wicked Stygian iron sword. While they fought that empousa, I had a battle of my own.
The other one was up and was slashing at me wildly, managing to cut small places on my arm. I lunged at her middle, only to have her dodge. She was about to strike while I was still recovering, but then she was suddenly on her knees, wailing as she turned to golden dust. Nico stood there nonchalantly, like he was used to this.
"Thanks." I exhaled.
Nico looked worried. "How did I fall for that," he mumbled to himself as he replaced his sword in the sheath. "That's the oldest trick in the book."
"It's not your fault." I reassured him. "All men fall for that. I'm just lucky I guess."
Leo looked at me, eyes wide and expression dumbfounded. "Hazel! You freaking saved us!!! Whoaaaa. That was just... Wow."
I smirked at his expression.
I laughed, easing the mood. "Hey Leo, it's not much. We're friends right? And McDonald's is right across the street. Shall we?"
---In McDonald's---
"Omigosh!" I exclaimed, wolfing down the crunchy heaven. "Chicken nuggets are sooooo good!!!"
Nico laughed, a real, amused laugh that I had never heard escape his lips. "Now you have to try a Big Mac."
Leo grinned like the Cheshire Cat. "Right?! MISSION SUCCESS!!!" He yelled, making the whole restaurant stare at us like psychopaths. That only made Nico and I laugh harder.
As I finished my last nugget I smiled to myself.
I turned to the boys. "Thanks. That was awesome. Do it agin sometime?"

That's the end of the first story! Sorry it took soooo long to update, I've been working on my other story, originally entitled Entwined, but I can't think of a title but oh well. And I'll now be writing them in just one part instead of three... Just thought I'd let you know.
So how was it? Good or bad? Interesting plot? Answer these in the comments please!
I have another idea for a new short story... This time involving Annabeth! I'll try to update soon!
