I may have been young but I wasn't stupid I understood life and death and while everyone else was fearing what was in the beyond I was happily learning about how to dissect a dead body within seconds.
This particular story began one warm day. I had quite an understanding of science and what I had recently been hearing around the classrooms was that a government group of scientists had been testing a way to live forever or hold onto life until someone else can make a long-lasting solution being a woman of science I had strong doubts that any man or woman could create a stop to the natural circle of life.
Today was a terrible day.
I was woken up by the sound of dogs barking loudly only to realize I was exactly half an hour late to my interview at a coffee shop which was only twelve minutes away, I was then faced with the reality that I had run there for nothing after realizing that the interview was next week so after getting my favourite coffee and a nice muffin I slowly made my way home.
Normally I was smart enough to look up when walking but today I was to busy eating my muffin to notice anything around me which was why when I didn't notice the abnormally large man crash into me.
"I am so SO sorry oh my goodness I'm such an idiot"
I exclaimed while trying to help him up and gathering all of his papers and documents my coffee and muffin long forgotten.
"Don't be it wasn't your fault I was busy looking at all the documents"
The man said while helping me pick up the documents it was then I started seeing what they had written on them.
"Do you really believe in this stuff?" I asked while holding a document, which had the words Cryogenic Freezing in big bold red.
"I am actually studying it on my way to have an interview at a clinic that's extremely interested in trying to prove that it could really happen," he said with a look of disdain like I had just offended him.
"I'm sorry I didn't mean to be offensive I've just never believed in this stuff it seems so unreachable" I was trying to apologize but seeming to fail greatly.
"It's okay not a lot of people believe in things like this but isn't that what science is about proving the impossible?" He asked while slowly standing up with me.
"Yes well, maybe one day you can prove to me the impossible I'm Adelia," I said while holding my hand out to shake trying my best at a comforting smile.
"Well Adelia I am Markos and I will make sure that I can prove to you the impossible" He replied taking my hand in his and shaking it.
"Okay well goodbye then" I slowly starting to walk away when I was suddenly stopped by his voice.
"Hey if I'm going to prove the impossible to you then I'm going to need your number" He almost laughed out as I slowly walked back blushing as no one had asked for my number before.
Time Skip To Three Weeks Later
These past three weeks had been incredibly fun Markos was a nice guy and aside from the fact we would fight on our scientific beliefs we were actually pretty good friends. Yes, only friends turn out he wasn't one for women but who cared I was glad I could finally talk to someone and have them understand what I was saying.
But today was different he was more excited than normal and he couldn't wait to tell me his 'Big News' more or less show me it.
We were in his car right now while listening to some god-awful music playing but since Markos decided it would be fun to blindfold me I couldn't change the damn station.
"Please change the damn station" I muttered for the millionth time while waiting for a reply.
"Why we're just parking now" He would always do this pretend we were a second away but not be anywhere near the place. But this time I knew it was the truth from feeling the car stop in its tracks.
"We're here open you can take off the blind fold" I felt the blindfold come off and slowly blinked to get my eyes adjusted to the light when I started looking around I was stunned by the sight.
There were massive white buildings that were light by giant glass windows and hundreds of solar powered plates it looked like a scientists candy shop I couldn't wait to see the candy inside.
"I can see you drooling" Markos smirked his smirk he would always use when he knew he was right about something
"So this is why it took you a whole week to go back and forth from work?" I questioned obviously knowing it was true from the size of the buildings and how rural it was, they must have taken years to make such beautiful buildings. I continue thinking of the hours of construction when all of a sudden I am broken out of my concentration by Markos
"Do you want to see the inside or just admire the outside?" He smirks while getting out as I quickly follow his lead and slam the car door shut.
(Hi this is my first book I guess. I had no idea what to do I'm not a massive Star Trek fan so if there are any tips or requests or anything please comment or message bye lovelies xoxo)
