9. Enlisting To The Academy

(Before reading this I apologise if anyone feels upset or uncomfortable with me using Anton Yelchin's picture as a character)

If someone had told me that not only would I be moved to a new timeline, meet a Russian great nephew and be enlisted to be shot off into space to go to a school to become a medical doctor for a spaceship.

I would have laughed and then called a mental hospital.

But here I am strapping myself into a uncomfortable chair waiting for lift off.

(Flashback to how this week started)

"So are you prepared?" Fletcher questioned me as I laced up my boots.

I stood up and brushed myself off, then looked at him "Well he's my only family left shouldn't I meet him?" to be honest I was starting to have doubts myself. Early this morning my great Nephew had called Fletcher saying he wanted to meet I was apprehensive but felt like this needed to happen.

"Just know I'll be there the whole time and we can leave anytime".

"Okay let's go before I pass out from fear" and out the door and off we went.

The cafe we stood infant of was pretty small it looked just like the ones back home. Once we stepped inside I could smell the strong scent of coffee & pastries.

I looked to the side and a boy with short curly hair was nursing a cup of coffee and anxiously looking out the window every five seconds and then his PADD, a device I have proudly mastered within only a couple of days.

He looked so much like my brother it was unreal. I slowly approached him and tapped on his shoulder. He jumped twenty feet high and held his chest like he'd gone into cardiac arrest.

"S-sorry hi um I guess you're my nephew?" He looked at me and it was like a light clicked he got up and immediately hugged me, now not knowing what to do I decided to hug him back he is family after all.

I guess.

He pulled away with a wide grin.

"Um anyway I guess Im your auntie Adelia and this is Fletcher, he's been helping me get used to this world and um well hi" I'm not gonna lie this was super awkward I had no idea what to do so we all just stood there awkwardly.

"Oh please you two sit and um I'll get us some coffee" Fletcher turned and left me there when I turned back around Pavel had moved back to his seat so it only seemed reasonable to sit with him and talk about well anything.

"So Pavel umm hows the family"

"They are really very happy to hear about you, you know the story of how you disappeared has been passed down. My grandfather used to talk about you all the time everybody always believed Markos had done something but we had never been told how bad it was"

"Yeah Lets not talk about the dark times. So I hear you're a very important crew member in a very important ship" I tried changing subject. Once I talked about him being an important crew member he blushed red.

"I'm not that important but the jobs pretty tough" He seemed really proud but didn't want to talk about it. It reminded me of my brother when he got a promotion he was always too humble to boast about it.

"Well tell me about it, this is big I wanna hear everything" And off Pavel went he told me everything the times he was his best and the times he was his worst I hadn't even realised that Fletcher had sat down to join us until.

"You know your aunt is quite smart maybe we could look into getting her signed up to the academy" Fletcher interrupted Pavel, telling me about how he and his shipmates visited a planet with molten lava and one of them almost dying when the planet erupted.

"That is an incredible idea you could look into becoming a engineer" Pavel looked really pleased with the idea.

"Okay well what do I have to do I mean am I even qualified? I mean you're so smart I was just a girl interested in science could I really get accepted?" This sounded exciting but at the same time horrifying what if I wasn't accepted or was but failed whilst there.

"I guess we'll just have to try and see how it goes"

(Time Skip to the present)

And the rest was history we left the cafe and went to register me and get the application form I decided the best route to go would be medicine, particularly nursing and by some miracle I was accepted and so here I am now in a ship about to go to some place to learn medicine holy crap this is an adventure isn't it?
