Survive (Annie x Eren)

Epilogue

{{Yeah yeah I know I said there wasn't going to be more, and there isn't! .. But I thought I should do an epilogue anyways... I felt bad.. Enjoy! }}

Within days Eren had picked up the same technique as Annie to help make herself feel better.. Self-harming. He used a broken razor blade and his left arm was always filled to the brim with cuts and slashes. But they always healed quickly due to the fact that he'd turned out to be a Titan shifter.

His friends were always worried, afraid of how far he'd go. I mean yeah, they were all missing and mourning Annie, but no one took it as hard as Eren. He'd struggled keeping with plans on expeditions, determined to wipe out the Titan race, but little did he know that'd eventually do him no good.

The rain poured down heavily, and the troops were starting to get anxious as they pulled up their hoods.

"Commander, sir! We need to take shelter, or we'll get wiped! We can't see a single fucking thing out here!" Eren shouted, nervously looking around. He saw him shake his head.

"No. We're almost at our destination, a slight detour could fuck everything up, so stay in line!"

But Eren couldn't take it anymore. He couldn't just abandon everyone who was fighting off the Titans, he couldn't just let them get killed.. Not like he did with Annie.

"Sorry sir. Continue on, don't worry about me. Okay? Keep the formation.. Let me go." He glanced back, worry crossing his face.

"EREN DON'T! YOU'RE OUR ONL-" He screeched, but he was too late. Eren was already gone and helping out the other scouts in trouble. He went on a rampage, killing every Titan he could.

"Levi, he's gone! He was.." Erwin continued running, and glanced back every so often to see Titans falling left right and center. "Levi I-.." He was cut off by a sharp slap to the face.

"Think about letting him fuck up this expedition again and I'll fuck you up." At that, Erwin backed down and continued running towards their destination, the remaining of the scouts following closely behind.

Eren swung in and out of the trees, surprisingly good at killing the Titans, and for once getting them all almost perfectly killed. Maybe his rage was giving him adrenaline? No, it definitely was. He grinned manically as he kept killing and killing until he was blood-soaked and his blades were dull. He tossed them, grabbing his other pair and killing more and more. He kept counting.

'38...39...'

'52...53...'

'75...76...'

He had an evil, bloodthirsty glint in his eye. He couldn't stop, he wouldn't. Eren killed more and more by the second until he saw a cluster and sped over there. He narrowly dodged swipes and hits, using the Titans against each other. Every so often, he'd slice some napes. He cut one nape, thinking it was deep enough as he watched the Titan collapse, and so he went on and killed the last one. But no, it wasn't. It wasn't enough. He was about to jump off when the Abnormal Titan grabbed him, and swiftly dangled him over his mouth.

'This is it. This is the moment I've been waiting for. I've killed my share of the Titans, although I wished I could've killed more.. At least.. At least I'll be with Annie and Mum.. With everyone who's died.. I'm just.. I'm sorry.'

Just before the Titan dropped him, he threw out an envelope with a letter inside, and whispered goodbye.

CRUNCH

His bones were broken, shattered, and his flesh torn as his arm and half of his head fell to the ground.

'Thank you.'

His and Annie's memorial were held together, and they were buried side by side.

Mikasa turned to leave, almost at the carriage before Lance Corporal Levi pulled her back.

"Cadet." She turned to him, not caring about the fact that her eyes were puffy and bloodshot.

"What.." She growled.

"Tch, you don't even deserve this." He rolled his eyes, handing over an envelope. It had Mikasa's name on it.

She took it and nodded, getting into the carriage and riding back to the cabins.

She sat on her bed and opened the envelope, bringing out a letter. She immediately recognized the writing and as she read, more and more tears came flooding down her face.

'Mikasa..

I'm sorry. About EVERYTHING. I never meant to hurt you, but I know how hard it was for you to accept me and Annie... I still love you, I always have, just not in that way. You're like a sister to me.. An overprotective sister, heh. But I still love you Mi, I really do. Thank you for everything.

If you could just tell everyone this.. I would be grateful.

I didn't die because I wanted to be with Annie and mum, but because I knew my time had come. You get to a certain point in life when you're just like, 'I'm ready, I'm not scared', and I got to this point. Thank you all for everything, you don't know how much it meant to me, and how grateful I am.

So stay strong cadets! It was a pleasure knowing you, and I wish you all the best!

Mikasa shook her head and started balling, she couldn't believe he was really gone. Once she'd cleaned herself up a little, she headed to the Mess Hall and gathered everyone, reading aloud the message.

'I failed. I failed my duty to protect you.. I'm sorry.. I love you too.'
