"Samuel! Wake up~!"
Sam groaned and rolled on to his side, cuddling the oversized sweater from Lee closer.
A sigh of exasperation from George.
"Sam!" he reached over and shook the redhead. "Wake up! I made pancakes!"
After a few minutes Samuel's eyes fluttered open and he glanced tiredly to George with a quiet yawn.
"P.. Pancakes..?"
George chuckled softly and smiled. "Get up, dear. Come confide in the King!"
Sam laughed a bit as he sat up with another yawn. "Confide in the King about what, hm?"
"Why, your date of course!"
The redhead stood, rubbing his eyes.
"My... date?" he murmured.
George nodded, grabbing Sam's hand as he skipped to the kitchen.
"Your date with that Charles Lee guy!" he paused as they entered and let Sam wander to the table as he grabbed the plates of pancakes. "He seemed..." Another pause. "...nice enough. How was the movie? Was it nice?"
"Dear heavens no," Sam scoffed.
(George had to keep from smiling at that.)
"...but overall it was a good night."
(Well that got a lot easier.)
"Oh? A good night, hm?" the lanky man gave a joking wink and laughed as Samuel's face flushed a dark shade of red.
"Not like that, Georgie," Sam giggled. "I meant.. It was fun.. It was a horror movie so you know how that went-"
"Oh, copious amounts of your girly screams-" ("Shush, you!") "-and hours of cuddling?"
It wasn't until Sam's silence did George realize the truth to his accusation.
An overdramatic gasp.
"Tell. Me. Everything!" George smiled brightly as he looked to his flustered friend.
"Georgie it.. It really wasn't anything that important.." Sam said sheepishly. There was a pause as the two exchanged a look. The redhead returned George's smile. "...okay! It was amazing!"
"Called it!"
Sam cut into the stack of pancakes and took a bite as he shifted excitedly. "It started out a bit rough, okay? My normal horror film spiel-"
"It's not a spiel, my prince," George interrupted a bit teasingly. "You really do get terrified during those type of movies~"
"Oh hush. Anyway, it started out like how our movie nights usually start out. Screams and jumps and the occasional 'are you okay' from Charlie-"
"-pet names, how cute-"
"Georgie," Sam giggled. "Stoopppp and let me tell my storyyyy."
"Your incredibly gay story," George teased again, laughing as well. He paused for a moment before nodding with a smile. "Go on, Sam."
"Okay! So the usual routine— and then it got to this one part, right? And.. And Charlie picked me up-"
"You are surprisingly light for a grown person."
"Hush. I'm technically not 'grown' yet. Anyway! He picked me up and put me in his lap-"
"Scandalous!" George called out with a laugh and playful wink, causing Sam to blush vividly as he went on.
"And he.. He wrapped his arms around me and promised that he'd protect me and.. And I know it's quite unproductive because there was nothing for him to protect me from but.. Oh!" Sam stopped for a moment, smiling dreamily. "Oh, Georgie, he.. He made me feel so.. Safe.. Even if there was nothing to be afraid of except my own, childish, irrational fears of things.. I just.. Felt.. Safe.."
George's smile fell as he heard the obvious switch in Sam's voice go from excited to adoring.
...I'm.. Just too.. Late...
"That.. Sounds... Fun," George said, plastering another grin on to his face as he spoke. "You really liked going out with him, hm?"
"Yes," Sam replied happily. "..it was the best night of my life... Just being there with him... It was..."
The redhead trailed off.
George bit his lip and took a bite of the pancakes. "You.. Uh.. Really like him, huh?"
Sam blinked out of the trance-like state he had fallen into and nodded with a smile, continuing to eat.
"I do!" he paused to take a bite. "Last night really... Convinced me of things..."
"Convinced you of.. 'Things'?" George repeated, raising a brow as Samuel nodded again.
A short silence fell upon the two as they finished their plates.
"Thank you, Georgie," Sam said softly, biting his lip as George took their empty plates to the sink with a simple hum and quiet nod. "Hey... Listen..." George glanced quickly back at him. "I was wondering if you could... Uhm... Help me with something?"
A small smile came across the blond man's face as he turned fully to face Samuel and nodded again.
"Of course, my prince."
Sam tapped at the table a bit anxiously.
"Do you.. Uh.. Well I... I'm... Uhm... I just... I was thinking... I uh.. Well you see... If I... Do... Would you... Will.. How can-"
"Sam," George interrupted. "Point. Now." He paused. "...please."
Samuel blinked and bit his lip, nodding. "Right.. Sorry I'm just.." He sighed. "...I've been thinking... About someone.. A lot..."
Oh boy...
"And... And I realized... Recently that I uh... I really.. Care about them..."
Oh boy...!
"...and I was just.. Wondering.. How I could.. Approach them and.. Tell them how I feel..."
George couldn't help but feel a bit ecstatic.
"Well, dear," he smiled as he sat back down across from Sam. "The only thing I can tell you to do is go for it."
Sam blinked. "G.. Go for it? But.. What if.. What if he doesn't like me? What if he.. What if he hates me after?"
"But!-" (Sam lightly flinched at his friend's dramatic flare) "-What if he loves you? And what if he decides that this-" George gestured between the two of them. Samuel took no hint. "-is something he's willing to try?"
"But.. What if he doesn't..?"
"But what if he does..?!"
There was a pause.
A long pause in which George's heart beat out of his chest and Sam's thoughts whirled around in his mind. A pause in which Sam tried to muster whatever courage he had and George bit his lip in the anticipation. A long pause before Sam excitedly stood up...
"I've got to go tell Charlie, then!"
...And George fell promptly back in to reality.
His smile faltered and he struggled to keep one. "...C.. Charlie, hm?"
Sam beamed excitedly as George stood and walked over. He nodded and gave the other a tight hug.
"Oh thank you Georgie!" Sam exclaimed as he pulled back. "You're the best best friend I could ever ask for!"
.....ouch.....
"Now if you'll excuse me, I've got feelings to confess!"
George plastered on another smile as his redheaded friend happily skipped out of the kitchen, then soon out the dorm.
His expression went from happy to bitter in a mere amount of seconds.
"...if that asshole hurts my Seabury..." George muttered to himself. "I swear to the heavens above..."
He walked back to the sink and started washing dishes with a hint of anger and frustration.
"...someone's gonna lose an eye..."
