Chapter 10: The Haunted Turnabout - Part 1 (Felicity's POV)

"You're saying there's an actual ghost in this house?"

"Of course. That's why nobody goes down into the basement, and why it's locked shut."

"H-Huh-?! Did that lamp just fall to the ground...?!"

"...let's keep moving."

"Wait, was the basement door open before?"

"G-GHOST-!"

"She's returned! Run, whilst you still can....!"

"She's back! Tell the master, immediately! We can't let this happen again!"

- August 19th ~ 2:23PM -

- Cobblepot Manor -

"Alright, Sky! This is it!" I grabbed my brother my the arm and pointed towards the manor that stood before us. "This is the place I was telling you about - 'Cobblepot Manor - hauntings daily! See the ghost of the murderer who got locked in the basement!' It's going to be great!"

Sky sighed, not really feeling the spooky vibes around the manor. "It's just not the same," he began, looking at various pictures on his phone. "I haven't seen Lily in ages. I've texted her and tried her place a bunch of times, but she's just disappeared off of the face of the earth."

"I guess you could say she's a ghost." I smirked, playfully punching my brother in the arm. "But seriously, we're here to forget about her. You need to be a bit happier, so let's go and check this place out, okay?"

"Because looking at a haunted manor is totally the best thing to do, Felicity." He shrugged, before heading towards the manor. "You're paying for this, though."

We didn't reach that far before we were stopped by a tour guide. "Um, sorry. The manor's closed. Come back in a week, okay?"

"What?!" I stomped my foot angrily. I went outside for this!! "Why?!What happened?!"

"No need to cause any alarm but..." The tour guide shivered, as if remembering a bad thought. "...they found a body. In the basement."

Sky gasped in surprise. "What?! How did that happen-?"

The tour guide shrugged. "I'm currently waiting for the defence lawyers to arrive, but I don't think they'll show up..."

"Actually..." I smirked, looking at Sky to see if he would catch on. "...we're the defence lawyers. These are our badges, see?"

"Oh!" The tour guide nodded, realising that she had overlooked something that was really simple. "In that case, allow me to introduce myself. My name is Cay Oss, one of the...actually, I'm the only tour guide here right now."

"What do you know about the crime?" Sky asked Ms. Oss, biting his lip so he could concentrate. "If we could ask you some questions now, before the Prosecution drags you away for questioning, that would be great."

"I don't know much, since I wasn't there at the time, but I do know that someone was found stabbed in the basement of this place. And the other tour guide, Jaxon Goddart, discovered the body and was arrested for it. And this all happened this morning!" She tapped her foot impatiently. "Every superstitious person around is getting angry at the police for going in the basement, since the Ghost of Cobblepot Manor resides there..."

"A ghost?" Sky tilted his head. "Don't say that people really think a ghost did all of this? That's impossible!"

"You've heard of the ghost story that attracts people to this place, right?" Ms. Oss began. "Hundreds of years ago, the master of this house wanted a servant to make him breakfast, but he couldn't find a single one. Turned out that his mad daughter had stabbed them all in the heart, much like this case. He ended up locking his daughter in the basement to starve to death, and it's said her angry spirit haunts the manor today."
