Jane fell and hit her back against a cold, hard surface. She let out a groan as she tried to get up, her head spinning as her ears swirled in all directions....picking up whispers and distant echoes.
"Where.....am I?" she rubbed the back of her skull. The whispers continued, nearly overflowing through the thoughts in her head. The darkness slowly decreased and she could see much clearer now.....She walked, following the whispers. She came into a corridor where there were several cell doors. Each with a three digit number and a small window to peek in.
She stopped at cell door no. 166....it's locked. She glanced into the dirty, mucky window....and to her horror, she saw herself. Sobbing, crying, crawling and scratching on the walls. "H elp me....!" The other Jane cried, there was agony in her eye-sockets. "Ple ase....!" She clawed at the door. Jane jerk backwards and slammed onto door no. 165. She felt a skeletal hand grabbed her ankle. "AAAHH!" she yelped and lifted her foot. The hand was still there, gripping tightly....it's unattached. Jane yelled and stumbled backwards, falling to the icy-cold floor.
There's a tiny opened door under the rusty metal cell door. A boney arm stretched out to her, "H and..." an unrecognizable voice came from behind cell 165. Jane hesitated and yanked the unattached hand from her ankle and reattached it with the arm. The newly reattached hand grabbed her by the collar and pulled her close to the open door. A half-melted skeleton face came into view. "Do n't for ge t...." it said. "Don't f orget th e pa st." it pushed her away and it closed the small door.
"Wait, what do you mean?" Jane scrambled to stand up and knocked on the cell.
But nobody answered....
Heavy, familiar footsteps echoed....they're coming closer and closer. A loud, ordering voice that draws attention boomed through the cell corridors. "DARK....DARKER, YET DARKER....." The voice seems awfully scary and familiar, "THE SHADOWS CUTTING DEEPER....PHOTON READINGS NEGATIVE....." A pale, ghastly face shone in the darkest of the corridors. It smiled as it saw Jane, stumbling backwards. "I don't like this..."
"THIS NEXT EXPERIMENT. SEEMS...."
"N-no!" She backed against a wall.
"VERY..."
"I'm warning you...!" Jane felt a chill went up her spine.
The face slowly forms into a tall figure as it edges closer to her. "VERY..."
"Stay away!" She snapped at it. She tried to use her magic to defend....it's not working.
"IN TER ESTING." It's boney hands stretched out to her.
"NOOO!!!" She screamed, jerking upwards from the floor. She had fallen out of her bed. Her eye shining a dim purple mixed with a cold blue. She trembled violently....dripping in cold sweat- and yes, her skeleton form seems to be able to sweat like humans do. There's that voice echoing in her head; "WHAT DO YOU TWO THINK....?"
She breathed heavily, this is the first time in the billionth she had a scary nightmare like this one....She curled up into a ball and cried. That dream had frightened her out of her bones.
A sharp pain hit her face, she felt a crack came down from her lower jaw.....she touched it and winced. "Ah!" The pain felt like burning fire. Something wet and salty streamed down her cheekbones....tears...it slide down to the crack and dripped off. It hurts...
The door opened, Matt came in. "Jane?" He scooted over to her.
Jane was still holding her cracked jaw, she turned away when he tried to see her face. "What's wrong?" He asked with a concerned tone.
"Bad...d-dream." She answered, still not showing her face.
Matt turned her face towards his and gasped, touching the cracked jaw and her tear-stained face. Jane jerked his hand away and looked to the side. "I-It's nothing...r-really..."
"You called this nothing?" He laid a gentle hand on her face.
"I-I can h-heal myself....th-there's no need to worry."
"J-Jane, you're bleeding! Let me help you...!" Matt's expression shows that he is really worried. Red substance oozed out of the crack, dripping quickly down to her hands. It is blood. She felt a sudden wave of dizziness hit her, she collapsed into his arms as everything went dark.
"Jane....Jane!" Matt cried, shaking her.
But no response.....
