The two of them walked into the bar...it was empty...Grillby's gone too. Jane warned him about the murder-child and asked him to get the remaining folks to safety. Snowdin was a ghost town after the kid's appearance...all that's left was a trail of dust and a deafening silence lingering in the air. She sat down on a chair and invited Matt to sit next to her. "Don't worry...there aren't any whoopee cushions underneath." She said grinning to him.
"Right..." He gave her a wry smile before siting beside her. He glanced down at her shoes- no...one shoe that she's wearing.
"Don't you feel cold walking with just one bare foot?" He asked, flashing a mischievous smile.
Jane looked down and realized. She shrugged casually and replied briefly. " Nope! Don't have any skin left to feel it."
He laughed jerking his masculine shoulders back and forth. "Well...this may be a coincidence that I came across this." A shoe appeared in his hands as he played around with it.
"My shoe!" She reached for it as Matt raised it higher so it's out of her reach.
" How did a shoe manage to get three miles away from its owner?" He tossed the shoe around.
Jane made a face. "How'd you think?"
" Hmm...maybe this wasn't your shoe." He grimaced.
" It is my shoe! Give it back!" She jumped up and down trying to retrieve her shoe. Matt easily towered above her as he smirked triumphantly.
Jane pouted and slumped back down to her seat.
Matt smiled softly and gently slide Jane's shoe back to where it belongs. "Shorty~" He said in a soft but teasing tone.
"Don't call me that..." She blushed.
Matt smiled and poked her ears curiously. Her ears twitched as he did so. She quickly covered them with her hoodie...the triangular shape of her ears perked up. "Wh-what are you doing...?"
"Nothing...~" He reached his hand inside...she caught his wrist. "Clearly you intended to do something to me. And I insist on doing that later." One of her eye-socket emitted a purplish glow. Her expression went from friendly to stern.
"Woah, woah! Relax, I wasn't going to hurt you...!" Matt had a frightened look on his face.
Her eye-sockets went back to normal as she let go of his wrist. "...sorry. It's just...wrong timing." She rested her head in her arms and sighed.
"What happened?"
"Long story short...us monsters were trapped here underground. We needed seven human souls to set us free...the seventh human fell down here and started killing everyone. Even my brother....he spared them with mercy...but they didn't hesitate. They killed him..." Purple tears trickled down her covered face.

"I'm so sorry...." Matt apologized while showing a concerned look. He pat Jane on the back to comfort her.

Jane bowed her head and lean backwards. "There must be a reason why you came here..."

"I was just passing by....this place looks very deserted...." He replied while staring at her face. The small, white round lights in her eye-sockets are gone which made her look deadly serious

"There were a few of us left....I evacuated the whole town."

Matt's gaze shifted to the empty tables and chairs. Poker cards were scattered on the floor....glasses of whisky unfinished...everything was awfully quiet.
